NYBengalfan
2003 was fairly admirable, that was about it, it's now 2006. Let the phony Jon Kitna lovefest end - the guy's terrible. I am honestly just sick of watching him at this point. Enough. He was getting bored being on a team that was eyeing a championship runhe'll enjoy playing for a 6-10 Lions team led by a dumbass GM........ who knows maybe he could get their young WRs the ball and provide a veteran leadership at QB that the team has lacked in the past

BengalszoneBilly
Yeah. Sure Jon. Blow that smoke up somebody elses a$$ you bible thumpin' loser of a QB! It's all about the money with you, same as anyone else, so quit lying. I hear your God doesn't fancy liars.
derekshank
Wow, you guys are really nailing him for his religious beliefs. He never claimed that God wanted him to start... he said that his competitive nature caused him to want to start. He just tends to use a lot of Christian cliche sayings. If you were a Muslim, and were offered a 3.5 million dollar contract... I'm sure you would feel like Alla had something to do with it. I don't understand why you begrudge him his perspective. You don't have to like him... but I do think he's genuine. He's a lockerroom favorite, and just becuase he believes in Jebus doesn't mean he can't look for the best deal. Most of you seem to have wanted him gone anyway... so why the bitterness? I don't have any strong feelings about him one way or another. I think Martin would be just as good, if not better than him... but I don't really understand the malice toward a guy who is just vocal about his beliefs. He's not shoving it on anyone... he's just not shy about it.There, I've put in my two cents... and I'm done. I actually get quite annoyed at this forum getting too religious... but I felt a need to point out what I view to be an irrational bias (although I'm sure many of you will view this post in much the same way). Whur CHad At?
Well it is the 21st century...it is all about the money and not about the game(see Edge)and I don't blame them. They should only care about the money, and in Jon's case he can build a church in that town of Detroit. I am glad for Jon, but if I were him I would of held out a little longer to get a bigger, better offer. If a Super Bowl winning team approached a player and offered $3 million, and then the worst team in NFL history came and offered $56 million, what do you think they would take?Good Job Jon,you knew you werent going to get jack if you stayed here, so you choose to go somewhere else, but you should of sucked more money out of them! Your kids need to go to those Catholic colleges and those are quite expensive.

He's not being truthful, and hiding his true intentions behind his religion. He said "his religious faith is calling him to new work." And then he turns right around and contradicts himself by saying "I was okay with the backup role the first year. Last year it started in training camp, that desire, that competitive spirit was there."Well which one is it Jon? Is it the "Lord" or your "competitive spirit?" I say it's neither. It's the MONEY HONEY, but if you fell off the turnip truck yesterday, believe what you want. Jon does.
HairOnFire
God wants me to belittle Kitna. I really don't know why, and it's especially troubling since I don't believe in God. So who does that guy think he is asking me do his bidding? But I'm told by others that he works in mysterious ways....so his will be done. Follow the cheese. Ask yourself whose still here and who jumped ship. Remind yourself that Boomer only talks to quarterbacks. You've seen the commercial, right? Who was Chad's halftime rant directed at? The guy who wasn't getting him the ball, right? So who wanted some Old Testement style revenge? And last, why didn't the Bengals do anything...and I mean anything at all...to keep Kitna? Kitna was the rat.

Kitna was the rat.Hair... I'm still not following your logic. What does Boomer have to do with it? Boomer read the report of PFW just like everyone else. Then I remember a day or two after the initial report... long after it was discussed here, Boomer reported that a source confirmed that there was indeed an altercation... but he didn't know if Chad actually had anyone in a headlock, or tried to punch Marvin. So, let's assume that Boomer did talk to Kitna... (I guess that's a fair assumption) apparently Kitna told him that Chad was upset, and there was an altercation... but nothing more. Hell... even Marvin told us that. There are far more likely candidates for the rat, like Ohalete... (Who was seen angry and pointing fingers at other players on the sidleine during the game) or if you really need it to be someone who is already with another team... how about Schobel? He's another guy we did nothing to try to retain. I believe we did nothing to try to retain Kitna because he made his intentions clear... and we had no desire to pay starter money for a backup. This is simply the most logical explanation... (similar to the reason we didn't try to retain Schobel... he wasn't good enough) your "rat conspiracy" is just that... a conspiracy theory. It doesn't really add up.You can choose to believe it was Kitna if that helps you sleep at night... but your reasoning is circular.
ArmyBengal
I don't care if he's the snitch or not. All I know is he's not a Bengal anymore, that's good for us, and bad for the Lions if he's their starter.I do agree with the fact that he's not quite as truthful about his intentions as some might believe him to be. While I do appreciate what he has done for the organization and more importantly for Carson, I lost respect for him and how things were worked out. In the grand scheme of things, his pockets are full and he doesn't care about me losing respect for him, but that doesn't make him a legit starter for most teams in the NFL either. Bye Jon, no tears shed...WHODEY !!!

But follow the cheese! The Bengals stated that they were interested in retaining Schobel if his price was to their liking. Thankfully it wasn't, but if it had been it's likely he'd still be a Bengal. Now consider Kitna. They lowered their only offer to him, the one made in October, AFTER Palmer was injured. What changed? Halftime of the Steeler game, right? Well, that and the incredibly sucky 2nd half. But the timeline keeps pointing to halftime, the meltdown, and the rat droppings it later produced. As for Marvin, he remarked that the rat was a player who no longer fit into the Bengals plans. These remarks match the timeline in regards to when the Bengals lowered their only offer to Kitna. Weeks later, as free agency draws near and then finally begins, the Bengals surprisngly make no effort whatsoever to retain Kitna. Linear thinking, not circular logic, points to Kitna being the rat.
