Spain
Except Arrington isnt looking for a big deal. He just didnt fit the giants he wants a 3-4 which is more evidence of what is happening. Adams is posturing.
HoosierCat
Kudos to the Bengals, I just read that while they are talking to Adams and Grady, that no visits will be scheduled. Can you just imagine the bill if we brought both in for dinner! :lmao: No doubt! But what you do is take them to one of those steak joints that has the "eat the whole 128-oz. steak and your meal is free" deals. I think they could polish off a couple of those as appetizers!

HoosierCat
Adams is down between us and the fins.According to him! There is no "us." Adams has been trying to get "us" involved since he got cut. His first call was to Big Willie and his second call was to his agent to tell him to spread the word he'd "talked to the Bengals." I guarantee he went to Miami and they looked him over and said, yeah, we'll give you a 2-year deal for the vet minimum. Take it or leave it. Now he wants the Bengals to come play to bid that offer up. And heck, why not, we gave Bryan "19 tackles" Robinson a 3 year, $6 million deal with $3.2 million in year one last time around, right? But this time they aren't biting.
derekshank
Adams appears to be the only one mentioning the Bengals. As far as I've heard he hasn't even visited Cincy. He is most likely trying to get a good deal, letting Miami know that there are other suitors... problem is, I don't think there are other suitors. membengal
There are certainly uses to which Arrington could be put quite effectively. I still think a case can be made thast, if they're going to change course and make a big splash in FA, then a position like DE or DT would have served them better. But if Arrington ends up in stripes, I will applaud long and loudly. I can't very well ding the Bengals for doing exactly what I've been urging: quit fiddly-farting around with multiple dimestore FAs, put your money in a big pile and shove it at one guy who might actually have an impact.I'm not concerned about his rocky time in DC. Let's not forget that during his tenure there, the Redskins were the NFC East's answer to the Bengals. Last season was their first winning season in 6 years (constituting Arrington's entire career), thanks to a string of crappy QBs, clueless coaches, and an owner whose fiscal recklessness was every bit as damaging as Mikey fiscal restraint. Heck, he just agreed to pay $4 million to secure his release. So I'm willing to bet he'll "de-Leon-ize" just like Corey Dillon did once he gets into a new suit. Now, all that said, what are the chances he'll be a Bengal? IMHO, pretty damn low. All the negative media, as well as his age (he'll be 28 before the season starts, so he's on the downslope, tho he ought to have several good years left) will work against him, but the bottom line is that he could very easily have a couple Pro Bowl seasons left in him, too. If the Bengals really want him, they're going to have drop all their usual negotiating crap and blow his socks off to start with. If they give him one of their usual "reasonable" offers, his agent will just take it, shop in around, and someone will give him the same money in, say, 3 years instead of 4 and then tack on a couple years of baloney bucks (just like the Raiders did with Sapp). In short, if they want him they'll have to step up for him, and I don't have any confidence that they will.Full agreement again. IF this were to actually come to pass, it would finally be that statement free agent signing that this team needs to make. And, again, this is the off-season to make that kind of move, coming off of an 11-5 season and a division title. And, no, I have no confidence that they will make that kind of move either, but I am at least now intrigued. HoosierCat
Man I wish I knew how this damn link s**t worked. There's this really complicated thing -- the LINK BUTTON -- in the reply screen. It's between the A and the envelope icon, the globe with the little chain link under it?Here, I'll walk ya through it:Go to the page you want to link to. Copy the entire address in the address bar. Come back here and hit reply in the thread you want to post the link in. Hit the LINK BUTTON. In the first popup screen past the link, in the second write some words like "the story is right here." You're done.If you don't wannt to be bothered, just paste the copied address straight into the text. It will make a link automatically. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. derekshank
Nope the giants said he isnt looking for a big deal, they just didnt think he fit the scheme. Ha HaThat could be true. It is hard to fit into a scheme when your only talent in rushing the QB. It's kind of like an out-of-position DE. He'd fit well in Pittsburgh. In Cincy, he'd be Pollack... and we already have Pollack.

BTG
Please tell me you are kidding BTG.Woodson is far from the answer to any of our problems.P.S. Hunter S. Thompson was the manI'm not kidding. I signed him to play corner on Madden and he was aweome. Seriously though, I've mentioned before about how I'd like the Bengals to go after him. He still has talent and I think he has something to prove after being released. Plus he should sign for a smaller salary thanks to his injuries. The potential reward of him signing greatly outweighs the risk, in my opinion. It just makes more football sense to me for the Bengals to sign Woodson and concentrate on DT/DE/TE in the draft. Think about it, out of the three DTs left that the Bengals might look at (Adams, Jackson, Pickett), only Pickett would be effective over the course of a season. Sam Adams & Grady Jackson are NOT the answers to the Bengals DT woes. Hell, Sam Adams played a down or two at a time last year. Do you really want to see him come in here for 3 mil a year to play 20-30 downs a game? Those two are just roleplayers, but their price is high thanks to the thin market. No thanks...go to Miami.Pickett might be the long-term answer, but for FIVE MILLION a year he'd better s**t out a gold brick or two before and after each game and give them to the homeless. What they need to do is draft someone who Marvin and Co. can groom to be a big time starter. They could sign the 24th pick for much much less than a free agent DT and get the same type of production as an Adams or a Jackson. Also, at 24 you'll have two young players (Bunkley/Watson) who could do the exact same thing Adams or Jackson could do at a smaller price...and with much more upside. So what should they do with the extra cash? IMO, sign a CB with a chip on his shoulder who can actually run with receivers and give you another playmaker in the defensive backfield. Tory can't do that anymore. He's the savvy veteran (like the guy in Major League who rubs snot on the ball to get more movement), but he's not a starting CB anymore.Think about this for a minute, would you rather see Sam Adams (3.8 mil a year for 2 years) at DT and a rookie CB taken or C-Wood (2.8 mil a year for four years) and a rookie DT? I vote for the latter.

Give it or take it I guess..WHODEY !!!He had a really good season in a contract year and has a reputation for being lazy. Plus he was already offered 4.5 to re-sign with the Bighorns, according to what I've heard.I like him really well (being from OSU and all), but he's not worth five mil a year...at least not to me. I'll fly in for the sole purpose of beating the s**t out of Brown if he leaves Bunk on the board. But I don't think we'll get him, and after that DT gets thin. So then what do we do? Sam might be the best option.

You're telling me Gabe Watson couldn't do the same thing?Read the second sentence there again. 19 tackles in 14 games. Unless Adams is willing to sign for around a mil a year, I don't want him in Cincy....you shouldn't either.

HoTbOy
If the Bengals took Arrington, IMO they should go strictly 3-4..As I have said before i love our LB's and can't see whose spot he would take..would it be BSims, I like LJ for that spot...I believe Thurman is there to stay and Pollack will have his 1st full camp...but in a 3-4 I would definately be on the bring in LaVar bandwagon...
