Pandre
I know a lot of people are against him coming here to the Bengals organization but I won't lie this gets me excited. I think he is a beast of a man that if Marvin can keep motivated and in line could do wonderers for us getting pressure on the the QB. http://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/cont...314bigcweb.htmlI think its the right move picking him up and moving Pollack to DE.Just seeing what the crowd thinks out there. turningpoint
Gimmie abraham at DE and Pollack LB any day over Pollack at DE and Arrington at LB.they'd cost the same and we could just as easily make a decent trade for abraham. turningpoint
very true, but the bengals i think could easily offer up their 3rd rounder for abraham, and the jets would take it.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Pollack was converted to a linebacker for a reason. He's not a DE on a 4 3 NFL Line.
GROIIIDayton
If he is not a DE on a 4-3 line are you implying that he is a DE on a 3-4 line? Pollack could very possibly be a DE on a 4-3 line, but would have no chance of being a DE on a 3-4 line. I would love to have arrington and don't think he could demand anything near what Abrahamwould want.

HoosierCat
LaVar would certainly be an impressive signing, especially for the Bengals, but I really question if it would be the sxmartest use of their FA dollars. If they are going to break the bank for someone, a guy like Rocky Bernard or Trevor Pryce would make (or in Pryce's case, would have made) far more sense. But Marvin seems to get a stiffy every time he so much as glimpses a LB, so I suppose anything's possible. And a LB rotation involving Pollack and Arrington, including the possibility of having both on the field at the same time with Pollack taking snaps as a down lineman as he did successfully last season, would create all sorts of headaches for opposing offenses.I guess we'll see. ArmyBengal
Well, at least there are still options out there that will upgrade our current defense. I don't know how much I want Arrington, but will go with the flow on that one. Where does that put Miller, Nate, Naives, and Simmons ?? Abraham for a 3rd ?? If we were to pick a third after seeing K-Wash go, this would be great and probably would be great even if we don't get another 3rd. HEY TNBT, Pickett left without a contract yesterday. The hope is still alive !!! Although, it may be short lived, he's going to Buffalo...WHODEY !!!

The_Next_Big_Thing
Geathers isn't a DE in a 3/4, he's a linebacker.HEY TNBT, Pickett left without a contract yesterday. The hope is still alive !!! Although, it may be short lived, he's going to Buffalo...WHODEY !!!If we let another guy shuffle off to Buffalo, I'm going to be annoyed for the first time in free agency. derekshank
I don't know why you think Pollack couldn't play DE? He is bigger and stronger than Mathis... the NFL sack leader this year. I think he would do just fine.However... I think he has the potential to be an elite SSLB, so I'm not in favor of moving him... and I like the versatility he provides. He can still line up at DE from time to time. The real issue here is what Arrington would do to the team. He would have a terrible influence on Odell. He's a kid who already struggles with the "do your job" mentality. If we had a veteran who just flat out refuses to do his job... we'd be in real trouble. bengalboomer7
I can't believe so many people are in favor of this.I've seen reports from KFFL that Lavar and Sam have Cincy as their final options. Funny thing is, I haven't seen a thing about the bengals contacting either. No visits, nothing.Am I the only one that sees us as mothing more than leverage. And personally, I will be thoroughly pissed if he's in stripes. The guy is overrated as hell. When Marvin was in Wash he had to assign him his own personal coach for christ's sake.No NO NO NO NO NO NOBut one thing that does intrigue me is finding a way to play Pollack at starting DE. That's what I've wanted all along.
Spain
Hey that was the Hobson end of the year review if Iremeber right. Well Marvin babysitted alot of players in his days. He has that rep. Could adams play NT in the three four has he ever?

This would allow them to essentialy have 4 LB's on the field.....and switch from 4-3 to 3-4 without substituting from play to play.QB: Looks like they will have one in the next week......it won't be Kitna. Now you be sure to go e-mail him and tell him to get a freaking clue,k? The_Next_Big_Thing
Moving Geathers inside was a mistake last year, doing it again this year will be a bigger mistake but oh well.

Can we please get a real freaking DT? Not a converted DE???? I am so sick and tired of putting these undersized guys inside and then watching them get (Carl) plowed over! ArmyBengal
I don't think Geathers was prepared for the whole 16 week season and got tired out. Will this be an improvement ?? I can't say one way or another. Pollack at end in a 3-4 ?? I'm not sure about that either. Time will tell...WHODEY !!!
HoosierCat
ive seen a few things that said he signed with the giants... but on other sites there is nothing officialThere were some early reports that he signed with NY but they were false. Still, I agree with Boomer, both talk of LaVar and Adams has the stench of leverage attempts. In Arrington's case, tho, I suspect he's trying to drum up interest elsewhere, since while the Giants have big LB needs they also spent pretty extensively last offseason and as a result have little room to play in FA this season (so far all I think they've signed are nickle corner McQuarters and S Ouentin Harris, who is primarily a special teamer). kentjett
Pollack was at his best on the end last year. I think there are several undersized defensive ends out there that have proved that they can play at a high level including the best one out there, Dwight Freeney. Lavar is one of the most talented athletes in the NFL and Marvin knows how to deal w/ him. As mentioned before, he coached Lavar during his best NFL career. Our defense would be in the top 15 if we sign Lavar. Dexter at safety, Madieu coming back at FS, drafting a CB and a DT on the first day. All of our holes would be filled in one year, sign him up.
