NFL | Upshaw agrees to push back free agency

Wed, 8 Mar 2006 19:56:33 -0800

ESPN.com reports after announcing the new NFL labor agreement, the NFL asked the players' union to push back the start of free agency from 12:01 a.m. ET Friday, March 10, to 12:01 a.m. ET Saturday, March 11. Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players' Association, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that since the NFL has approved the labor proposal, he will grant the NFL's request to push back free agency. Upshaw told Mortensen that while he has not yet actually granted the delay, he planned to do so. The formal announcement of the extension will likely come Thursday, March 9.

Have to agree having Bentley would be HUGE for our offensive line, but the pro-bowler will be getting top dollar. I don't think the Bengals would be able to be a player is getting Bentley's services.

WHODEY !!!

The Eagles have said that Bentley is their top guy this year and pretty much were waiting for the new deal to be settled before they could wip out cash for him. He will be an Eagle, and he wants to be an Eagle. He should be signed Saturday at 12:01 am. Eagles won't let him go.

Howard is the typical underachiever in New Orleans. He would probably do well with a change of scenery and I'm sure Marvin could find the proper motivation for him. I'm all for giving him a shot...

WHODEY !!!

I don't think he underachieved. He did well in his first couple of seasons including winning DROY. He had double digit sacks twice, had 6 once, and 8. His worst seasons were last year with only 3.5 sacks and 2003 with 5 sacks. But maybe with new scenery he could re-elivate his game to what it was.

I think its funny becuase last year he had 3.5 sacks, and that is more than 90% of our defensive players had. And it was an "horrible" year for Howard.

Mikey BRING HIM IN!!!!!!!!!!

I think my top target is Ryan Pickett. Dude is a monster at DT.

I was wondering why his name hadn't been floated around here more. I think he would be huge for us as well.

I say bring him in !!!

WHODEY !!!

Honestly, I wasn't floating his name around for one simple reason.... I really really want him, and I didn't want to jinx the chances by floating his name around. But, the cat's out of the bag!
