If we did sign him loook for the 3-4, Arrington is a player. We even trid to trade for him, When Big Daddy was being shopped.(if memory serves).

Nope, the Bengals wanted LB Greg Jones. The Redskins repeatedly refused, and finally countered by packaging a 3rd round pick with the already agreed upon 1st rounder. Later, the Bengals used the 3rd round pick for Mike Goff.

BTW, Arrington once made comments about not liking Marvin's system even though he was highly productive in it. It seemed like he and Marvin had problems for awhile, but it's possible they worked through them as Washington's defense really started to click right before Marvin moved on.

Frankly, he looks like a perfect fit for Cleveland.

Speaking of which, they're hosting Trevor Pryce today...

Trying to get back at Denver for taking their entire defensive line and making it better? :)

Ya never know. But I wonder whether it wasn't guys like Pryce who made Cleveland's castoffs look better? I will admit, this is one guy I would like to see in stripes (specifically, Duane Clemons' stripes).

I'd love to have Pryce in stripes as well. He was one who caught my eye as soon as he was released. Still, he seems to be looking at the wide-cap space having bottom feeders first (if anything can be determined by the Cleveland visit) and might not care much about our Bengals no matter how much they offer (certainly less).

Yup. I do think he'd consider a Cincy offer -- and I even think they'd stand a decent shot of getting him -- but they'd have to abandon their usual "spread it around" strategy for an "all the eggs in one basket" approach. I wouldn't bet on that, but we'll see.

I dont know how tough it is to play in Joe Gibbs system but Arrington didnt fit in it and what makes anyone think he would fit in Marvin's as well?

for all the hype Arrington has had thru the years is he really that good?

He seems very undisciplined and only thinks of money and his stats ..

Id think twice about this guy for the money he'll want...

:D Pryce yeap...but for Arrington naaaaawwwww I like the Bengals LB's I would lke to see how LJ,OT,DP all starting behind a decent DL..I love LJ he has to get on the field more...

Trevor Price is intrigueing.. He's very strong and seems to have some quickness.... He'd be worth taking a look at in free agency I suppose..

I still like the idea of getting a Dt that can take on blockers to let the other DT put pressure on the QB and let the backers fill the gaps..

Sam Adams may not be athletic but he has mass and teamed with say Gabe Watson the line would be much stronger.. Robinson and Smith could rotate to keep all fresh and Thornton could be cut to help pay Adams contract...

good idea or not?

I like Pryce. I don't like Watson or Adams at all.

I understand the knocks on both Adams and Watson but as a tandem wouldnt they force teams to change their philosophy of running on the Bengals so much?

I have but three words.... NO NO NO ok, five words NO NO NO NO NO NO!

Seriously, the last thing we need is a linebacker who is out of position with an attitude problem who wants a lot of money.

He won't get that much money after this past year, the media killed him after Gibbs threw him under the bus. Also, living in DC, I can tell you he does NOT have an attitude problem aside from wanting to play and win. If that qualifies as a "problem," I want tons of guys with attitude problems on my team. My personal opinion is that Greg Williams didn't like his style of play and didn't really coach him or give him much of a chance. Eventually Arrington started getting PT as they saw he was willing to try to adapt his style to the system, and he was pretty damned good.

That said, he does freelance a lot. Also, Im not sure where he plays unless you decide to let Pollack switch back to DE or bench Simmons.

So I guess my point is he's probably not a great fit for the Bengals, but if I was a team that could use some LB help, I'd jump on him.

Arent the Bengals going to give Pollack a prescibed weight to come into camp with this year.. I heard him say in the radio that he's at 245 right now....Will he lose a bit more to play backer or what??? I think he plays backer this year and its not out of the possibility that the team goes after another DE in the draft... which round Im not certain..

Manny Lawson caught my eye ( as everyone else's too )... the kid has a Huge upside at DE with another 10 lbs or so....

That's what hapened in the latter half of last year when Robinson got hurt and Shaun Smith was pressed into service. Smith was more effective vs. the run than B-rob had been, which forced teams to throw more. Unfortunately, they found success because our secondary had too many holes, and our pass rush was too weak. Specifically, they began scheming to isolate either Ohalete or K2, both of whom could be had. Hopefully, the return of Madieu, plus something better than Ohalete (either in the draft or through FA) will plug up the secondary, and Pollack breaks out as the pass-rushing threat he was supposed to be.

There are better answers than either Adams or Watson though. Bunkley is so much better than either of them it isn't even funny. But then again, I thought Igor Olshansky was going to be a GOD in the NFL....

From what I've been seeing, we're not going to get a chance for Bunkley as he'll be gone. Of course, no one can predict the draft, so who the hell knows. I'd like seeing him in Cincinnati, for sure.

Bunkley would indeed be a pick Id like to see them get but like you said he'll more than likely be gone and I wouldnt be surprised to see the Browns draft him for their NT in that 3-4 defense Crennel is using..

Im hoping the Browns sign a NT so we'll have a shot at Bunkley but his stock is rising fast......
