Whur CHad At?
CB was released by the Seahawks today along with Jamie Sharper Any intrest? The guy is like 27 years old and has a lot of good years left?
kurgan74
Dyson would be a good pickup. I have heard rumors that Chris McCallister might be releasedby the Ravens to get under the cap.

I think McCallister is 29 or something like that. But if we picked him up I wouldn't be mad...Marvin would know what he is doing. Although he(McCallister) might not be real cap-friendly to us
The_Next_Big_Thing
Either Dyson or McAllister would be an upgrade over James. Getting either of them could put us in a position to move Tory to FS and Madieu to SS as well.
derekshank
Either Dyson or McAllister would be an upgrade over James. Getting either of them could put us in a position to move Tory to FS and Madieu to SS as well.I'm not a fan of moving Madieu to SS. He could definitely do the job... but he is going to be really special as a FS. I'd rather keep him there and bring in a SS. Besides... Safeties are cheaper in FA, and Marvin said strait up that we weren't going for a CB in FA... and has been hinting at taking a CB in the 1st roungSo you guys who want a SS in the first round... look around for FA's, because we will probably be getting one there... and drafting a replacement for Tory. James is still a decent CB... but will be one of the best nickles in the league. He is a more physical style corner... so he could really find his niche as the nickle for his last few years in the NFL. I wouldn't mind seeing him blitz out of the nickle spot either. He would be better at doing that than Ratliff was.
ArmyBengal
Anything that is an upgrade works for me. It still sounds like the organization's main focus is the O-line, so I don't know how much wiggle room we actually have...WHODEY !!!
Whur CHad At?
I am sure we can wiggle one of the two in there...
HairOnFire
CB was released by the Seahawks today along with Jamie Sharper Jamie Sharper? So who wants to argue a different version of the Warren Sapp thread? Fire up the Honda Civic....'cause this ones just as funny, and in exactly the same ways. HoosierCat
Jamie Sharper? So who wants to argue a different version of the Warren Sapp thread? Fire up the Honda Civic....'cause this ones just as funny, and in exactly the same ways. The two situations aren't remotely comparable. Sharper took a tarted-up 1-year deal in Seattle so he could hit the FA market again this year (after being released late and missing out on most of the action last season). He cost the 'Hawks nothing: minimum salary and a $1.5 million signing bonus.
HairOnFire
The two situations aren't remotely comparable. Sharper took a tarted-up 1-year deal in Seattle... ....and thereby prompted many Bengal fans to gnash their teeth because the Bengals refused to improve their own offer, a proposal that most felt would have served the players long-term interests better than the one he accepted. Thus, Sapp-like. Regardless, both teams, Cincy and Seattle, quickly drafted better players than Sharper. The only difference is Seattle paid for the opportunity to include Sharper on their injured lists.

Thus, Sapp-like.Probably not. If the Raiders keep Sapp this season, which seems likely, then he will have made slightly more in three years with Oakland then he would have made in four in Cincy. And given the way the cap hit works out for him in Oakland this year, that seems likely. Thus both Sapp's short and long term interests were better in Oakland.Sharper, meanwhile, chose to gamble by taking a deal that would clearly bring him less over the long run in the hopes of getting another crack at FA while he still had some value.Regardless, both teams, Cincy and Seattle, quickly drafted better players than Sharper. The only difference is Seattle paid for the opportunity to include Sharper on their injured lists.A cost that was still less than what the Bengals paid to have Bryan "18 tackles" Robinson sit on the bench with a busted foot for 6 weeks. The 'Hawks paid a bit more than $2 million for 37 tackles and forced fumble, while we paid $3.2 million for B-rob. If they would have kept Langston Moore and thrown another million at Sharper and still had him get hurt and do no better here than in Seattle, the Bengals still would have been better off.Funny? Yeah, if you like black humor.

Stripes
So you guys who want a SS in the first round... look around for FA's, because we will probably be getting one there... and drafting a replacement for Tory. He would be better at doing that than Ratliff was. Agreed. With the emerging cornerback talent that will be available at #24, this seems to be the most logical route. That of course depends on what the Bengals are willing to do in the FA market. For this plan to work out as you outline it, we'll have to reach deeper into our pockets than usual, because a second tier FA safety option will not cut it as would a first/second round safety in the draft in my opinion. Your favorite option, McCree would sound great for the job, being both a worthy player and low in cost, but that doesn't seem likely... So who's left? Dexter Jackson would be wonderful, but he seems like another guy that the Bengals will look at, make an offer, and lose to someone else. The same goes for the Archuleta types. Will Demps is also high on my list, despite his injury. I am sure there will be plenty more FA options than those I've mentioned, but I can't think of many if any off hand that would provide us with the same immediate boost or youthful injection as would a first day draft pick. Granted, with all the CBA mumbo jumbo, the list of options is bound to grow in the near future.
