espn just said that the NFL has pushed the start of FA back -- again -- by 72 hours to Thursday. Didn't say if the deadline for getting under the cap (currently 11:30 EST, about 12 mins. from now) had been pushed back as well.

What a circus...

Here is what will happen...

Wednesday they will delay the deadline till 10:30 pm.

Then they will delay the start of FA until Sunday at 12:01 and the deadline to be under the cap at 9 p.m.

THen the process will repeat itself over and over again...

I am like a gypsy or something I can see into the future :arabia:

Even "if" the Bengals were interested, you know doggone well they aren't going to make ANY moves until the CBA is resolved. Oh well, he would have been more than an upgrade...

WHODEY !!!

Given the deadlock we've seen in this issue, that would spell doom on any chances of the Bengals signing any mid-upper tier free agents. What a shock that would be. <_<

Just to update, Bruce has now officially been released by the Rams. However, word is Kerry Collins has not yet been officially cut pending the CBA...

Also the Broncos have reportedly signed Courtney Brown for 3 years (and no I for one wasn't interested in him) so chalk him off the potential FA list.

Vikings | Team pulled tag because of recalculation

Fri, 10 Mar 2006 15:16:45 -0800

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Minnesota Vikings removed the transition designation on CB Brian Williams after a recalculation of the one-year tender based on changes in the new collective bargaining agreement. The tenders for this year increased considerably from what teams expected ($5.89 million for a franchised cornerback and $4.77 million for a transitioned cornerback). It's not clear exactly what Williams' tender would have been under the new agreement. He would have made significantly more than the one-year tender of $4.77 million he was initially offered. After getting those new numbers, the Vikings decided he was too expensive and pulled the tender, making him a free agent.

Would cost...but how many solid 4-year vet corners come open on the FA market?

I think he is a solid football player but hasnt he only had one good year? I wouldn't give the guy a s**tload of money after one good season. Make him proove himself next year worthy of a fat contract. That prob. won't be the case sense he is a FA,and some team will give him a s**tload of money, I just hope it aint us.

He's had a bit more than one good season. C'mon, we're talking about a guy playing for a team whose defensed has sucked donkey cajones forever who's racked up 11 picks, 25 passes defensed, 6 forced fumbles, and some 200 tackles in the last three years. And in four years he has missed just 2 games.

Compare that to our best CB, O'Neal. His last three years are 15 picks, 19 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and about 140 tackles, and he's missed 8 games.

A team could do worse than dropping a boatload of coin on this guy.

Chances of the Bengals signing Griese have to be pretty close to 0. He should fetch a hefty sum. But how much depends on all that is happening with Brees, Culpepper, Brooks, McCown and Ramsey. There's 2 definite starters and 3 potential ones for teams, which could drive Griese's price down some but not likely near enough for the Bengals to get their 50%-off special for the has been or never was they're probably trying to get as a backup QB.
