walzav29 Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I agree with alot of the things I've read about the draft. There seem to be a few Super-freaks. Like Vernon Davis, Broderick Bunkley, Huff, Bush, etc.... but they'll all be gone by the time the Bengals pick. It seems like there are a ton of 2nd round guys. I wasn't that crazy about Bunkley, but he seems to be the kind of DT Marvin likes. He's mobile, quick and not a fat slob. He is chisled like a cartoon character. He'll be gone. I hope The Godfather trades down to get more 2nd rnd guys. Do you think anyone of these hotshot's will fall to 24? Forget the obvious ones. I'm just trying to figure out 23 guy's that will for sure be gone by the time the Bengals pick.BushLeinartCutlerYoungD'BrickashawV. DavisDeAngelo WilliamsMike HuffMario WilliamsNgataLenDale WhiteJimmy WilliamsBroderick Bunkley I think the only one of those listed that might have a chance to fall to #24 is Bunkley. I will also say this, with all the people jumping after combine results, someone we never expected to be there at #24 WILL BE !!!God, is it April yet ???WHODEY !!! Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Remember, all these are hype names too. LenDale White could drop into day two if we are going to be honest. He probably won't, but right now, Huff is dropping as fast as Chad Jackson and Broderick Bunkley are rising. Quote
kingwilly Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 how is huff dropping? With Calhoun running poorly, Lendale will find himslef in late r1/early r2...White will go to in this range:27 Carolina 28 Jacksonville 29 Denver30 Indianapolis 31 Seattle 32 Pittsburgh Second Round 33 Houston 34 New Orleans 35 New York Jets 36 Green Bay 37 San Francisco Quote
ArmyBengal Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 All I will say, is there's a big difference between dropping and free falling all the way to #24...WHODEY !!! Quote
AGrizzlyBaer Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 there are always surprises like 2 years ago when the running backs fell like crazy, as well as randy starks and last year when aaron rodgers fell. some player that were thought in the top will fall always happens Quote
kingwilly Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I think Cutler and/or Young could fall till late r1, this years Aaron Rodgers... Quote
TJJackson Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Huff is dropping as fast as Chad Jackson and Broderick Bunkley are rising.Pardon? How so? Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I think Cutler and/or Young could fall till late r1, this years Aaron Rodgers...If Vince Young falls, the farthest he falls in to #7, and that is Oakland.Cutler is a mystery..?What if Reggie Bush isn't picked #1, where will he go? kentjett Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 I haven't been a fan of Bunkley for the last couple of months but he has changed my mind. I said that we need a big run stuffer and he is not it. I was completely wrong, this guy is 310 lbs of solid muscle. He's big,has a high motor, and extremely athletic. My vote is for Bunkley w/ the 24th pick. Quote
cover2 Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 The guy is a stud and would be a great pick at 24. Quote
Kazkal Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 mybe ngata falls with bunkley flying up the boards Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 mybe ngata falls with bunkley flying up the boards Funny, but if in fact that happened, we'd miss out on both sitting at #24... WHODEY !!! Quote

My vote is for Bunkley w/ the 24th pick.I don't question any of the above, particularly after his good showing at the combine, but Bunkley does have some durability and character issues hanging over him that make make him too risky to take at 24. HoosierCat Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 If you check the bengalszone mock draft tracking page ( http://www.bengalszone.com/mockdrafts.php ) the late-combine and post-combine updates have begun to roll in, and Bunkley is surging in popularity as the Bengals' 1st round pick. (Oddly, Rodrique Wright is getting a bump, too; the DT fading fastest at the moment is Claude Wroten. Pre-combine fav DT Gabe Watson appears to be holding about steady.)I find the Bunkley jump interesting because for the past couple weeks he's been "falling up" the draft board -- in other words there was an emerging consensus that he'd go before we picked. His reappearance may be due to other guys impressing and pushing him back down -- or it may just be the result of some mock drafters not paying much attention to him before and being impressed by his combine performance.I would be perfectly happy with Bunkley at 24. The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Huff is dropping as fast as Chad Jackson and Broderick Bunkley are rising.Pardon? How so?Huff, as I understand it, didn't do much at the combine. Jackson and Bunkley came in studly as can be. Quote
derekshank Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 I'd be fine with Bunkley... we could do much worse... like reaching for a TE at 24. Anyway... I like Bunkley's style of play... but I'm still not a big fan of DT in the 1st round. If Bunkley falls to us, I 'll definetely understand the decision to take him... but taking DT's in the 1st round is risky. They are very difficult to assess... probably just as hard as QB. It is much safer to go the FA route for that need... and I'm increasingly warming to the 1st round CB idea... because they often make immediate impacts.Regarding kentjett's comments... I disagree that we need a big fat run stopping DT. We need a guy to help generate a pass rush without hurting the running game. Our run defense was not nearly as bad as people think. We played poorly against Jacksonville, the 1st Steelers game, and the garbage time game against KC in the last reg season game.Take those games away, and our run defense looks like a top 5 top 10 rushing defense. Really... our run defense should get much better with a sure tackling safety as well. The big need on the D-Line is for a pass rush. Also... I don't see anywhere that has Bunkley at 310. I see him at 286 on every site I look at. Did he recently gain 30 lbs without anyone noticing? http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...ickbunkley.html says:Does not have great size or bulk...Durability is a concern and he has a history of knee and ankle problems...Has not been the hardest worker throughout his career...His lack of size might become more of a problem at the next level...Is on the ground too much...Was arrested for stealing a video game in 2003.Not real worried about the video game theft... but would be concerned about the fact that he is on the ground a lot in the college game (would probably be on the ground a lot more in the NFL), and has not been the hardest worker, and has a history of knee problems. He definetly has a lot of upside... but I think CB would be the better safer pick at #24. Quote

bengalboomer7 Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 I think 286 was his playing weight in college and 310 is what he weighed in at the combine. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Huff CEMENTED his psotion in the Top 15 of the draft...Based on his play for Texas, combine perfomrance and his upcoming pro Day at Texas...there is no way he dropped...no way. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Agreed...I have NFI how TNBT has decided that Huff is dropping Quote
