Bengals have Georgia on their Minds...

Recommended Posts

Blue suffered in coverage when I saw them play this year...it was a real weak spot...sure he could deliver the hit...so that does take care of that issue...but I think there are more complete S's in this draft...Whitner for one.

I think they look at the bigger CB's also...interchangeable pieces like Madieu Williams is...

I like Blue for a weakside backer, who the Bengals could bring in any time they run a 4-4-3 which they had some success with in stopping run games last year. Plus they could groom him as a replacement for B Simms. Blue would be fine in shorter area coverage as close to lateral as possible. But anything behind him in coverage and he'll make Ohalete look like an Pro Bowler.

Pope just capped off a great season with a great season. That's excellent speed for a TE that size. He'll be a project blocking, though.

If it comes down to Georgia players, I'd like to see Demario Minter in stripes if the Bengals don't go CB before the 3rd round.

I think Carpenter will be gone by 55...but a guy like Terna Nande will be there.

Has anyone noticed what Nande has accomplished at the combine? Awesome display of power during the weightlifting, then ran one of the fastest 40's of any LB, then followed that up with surprising quickness in the shuttle drills. The elite prospects are getting all of the headlines, but I'd say he helped himself as much as anyone.

So, he had a good combine workout. Can he play football?

I'd assume such, as I would assume with any player who was good enough to start for any division one college football team, especially one pegged for the draft. Having both is the key.

Hell I can play football, but I'm not going to be drafted (stupid three years outta high school rule, I'll be there!)

Yes he can, Nande is a sweet football player, who is extremely over rated. I am sure there is game film of him online you can see. He was def. the Best defensive player in the MAC

Quite honestly, I don't know that much about Nande. I've seen him play a little, but I'll admit freely that I wasn't zeroed in on him. But others here have pimped him a bit so I made a point to look for him during the combines. Frankly, I was very impressed by what I witnessed, especially when you consider he's usually ranked as a late round prospect, and that's the reason I mentioned that he may have helped himself at the combines as much as any of the more talked about propsects.

Pope was one of the strongest players here at UGA. He was never shy about throwing himself into someone's face either.

He won't have problems blocking with his size and attitude.

As for Blue, he has decent coverage skills. He isnt that great nor is he that terrible.

Both terrific pickups, imo

I think Pope will turn out to be a better NFL player than Vernon Davis... He has all the tools to be a great tight end, and he's so friggin tall. I'd love to land him. Blue I'm not so sure about... He looked a little stiff at the combine and didn't do much to dispell worries of his struggles with coverage. If the Bengals do take him, I won't be disappointed. They know talent better than I, and have proven such each of the last three years.

I'd be happy with Pope in r2..if he fell....I seriously doubt he will have a better career than Davis...but since Davis will probably go to SF he will struggle.

Blue should not be considered...too stiff, not enough coverage skills and not fast enough...Sean Taylor he is not. Guys like Allen and Bullocks have it all over Blue...Heck if we want a hitter Slay is the man. Pass on Blue.
