Yes, really. Last time I checked, Bob Bratkowski was the Bengals OC not the Colts OC.
A guy can't make the HOF if they don't throw you the ball.
Yeah, if I was Bob Bratkowski, I wouldn't have wanted to throw to our receiving tight end - you know, Matt "hands of stone" Schobel - either. Completely understand.
-
You two are crazy :-)
Not that it matters...he will be off the board well before we pick anyway
-
Really.
Odd how TE Dallas Clark managed to "see the ball" quite often despite the presence of 3 outstanding wide receivers (one of them is almost certainly guarenteed a spot in Canton someday) and a great pass-catching running back in our game vs Indy
There can never be enough weapons, particularly when any given player can be carted off the field any given sunday, and some teams will be weaker defending the TE but strong defending the WR.
-
Yeah, wouldn't it be great if it went that way...maybe we could talk him into an alternate version where DE Mario Williams falls to us at 24 and Vernon Davis at 55... Oh, and how about Michael Huff in round 3?
*laff*

He says that this re-signing indicates the Bengals will seek a receiving tight end in the draft. I couldn't disagree more. They should be looking for a 3 down TE, not one who specializes as a receiver or a blocker

Gocong will go a lot sooner than 6, most likely

Let's wait til we come to this bridge before we decide to burn it, ok?
Chad has been nothing but pleasant and fun, frankly....you never hear him talking about his contract, you hear what he is going to do (or at least thinks he is going to do, hehe) on the field.
He may have the biggest slimeball on the planet for an agent, but none of the slime has come through.
He didn't call the entire city racist (Big Daddy)
He hasn't done cocaine before a big game (Stanley Wilson)
He didn't park his car on the I-75 bridge (Tremain Mack)
He didn't yowl about flipping burgers rather than playing (Corey Dillon)
With the exception of one locker room incident, he's been nothing but a joy here in Cincinnati thus far
Give the guy some credit.
Sheesh.

Steinabch is a very important piece of the offensive line, and I do want him back - badly. THose who label him as a guard had best beware...he is backup at center and at tackle, which came into play last year if you review the taps. His versatility makes him very nearly as valuable as Levi, frankly
That said, in the era of the salary cap, there is no - "at any price" anymore. If Chad's price went too high, I'd (very very) sadly wave goodbye to him as well.
So...make him an offer. A larger one than Bobbie's. Not much larger, but larger. Particularly in the guarenteed money. As he is younger than Bobbie, make it for a longer term.
If it comes down to the end of the season and both are unsigned....sadly, Levi is the higher priority, as he protects Carson from the top pass rushers. Levi gets the tag, and Steinbach will probably be a loss.
On that basis alone, since Levi will get tagged, I'd say you want to work on Steinbach's contract next.

Has anyone looked into Manny Lawson? freakishly athletic, much like Vernon Davis albeit at a different position
I think if he'd been played 3 years at linebacker, instead of splitting time between LB and DE, he'd be a top 10 pick right now.....
-
Outstanding :-)

These are the late round TEs I like - both good blockers

However, I still feel this is a big enough need to warrant a day 1 pick.
-
I'm a fan of Betts as a strong-armed developmental QB, and have him in my mock draft at pick 7a
-
Fasano would definitely be more of an all-downs TE than Thomas.
That's pretty much were I am coming from -- I believe that's exactly what we need, not a TE who is pretty much a blocker (like Kelly) or receiver (like Schobel was supposed to be) and not both.
-
David Thomas is not a good blocker either, actually...he's another receiving tight end
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...avidthomas.html
Fasano is a true 3 down TE, equally good as a blocker as he is as a receiver.
-
If you want a receiving tight end, you want Klopfenstein.
If you want a blocking Tight end who can also receive, you want Fasano.
-
My understanding is that Buster Davis did not declare for the draft, and will be playing college ball this fall......correct?
-
One guy I am having a hard time ignoring is Manny Lawson.
Mainly, it's the combo of his size and speed plus his production
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...annylawson.html
On the one hand, how exactly is it that all these great day 1 talents are all on the line at North Carolina State? (Williams, McCargo, and Lawson) HOw much of each player's productivity is due to the presence of one of the others?
On the other hand, if we didn't already have Pollack, Lawson would be my pick at 24....I'd like some opinions/info on whether Lawson has the frame to add weight....I know he is 6'5 and all that, but can he bulk up? He is a freak athletically....

Anyone want to see us take a OLB to (potentially) replace B Simmons this year?
Or would you prefer to wait til next year?
-
I'll be sure to remind you about this one on the evening of April 29th, AB :-)
Keep those shorts handy, don't wash them, and I'll send over a bottle of bbq sauce
-
He'll go in 6 or later
-
There has been a correction - the Niners do not have an interest in JJ - may want to revise that pick
-
*laff* I gotsta love a player named TJ Jackson :-)
I just gotsa....dunno why ;-)

I don't like Cromartie much myself in r1, which is where he will go
Yes, he's big and fast, the so-called "prototype" body for the modern pro-bowl corner.
But I don't think he has the mental side of the game down, and he doesn't seem to have much experience.
Between that and his injury history, he doesn't excite me as a r1 prospect. Now let's say he drops to the 4th round - yeah, I know, I know, this is a freaking impossibility and all that -- then and only then would I take a risk on a player like this.
He reminds me a lot of another recent r4 pick - Andrews - a physical phenom who was (and still is, to an extent) as raw as they come. You take projects later in the draft, not day 1, when you have a playoff ready team.
Were we still a 3-13 team, I'd be more interested in Cromartie. At 3-13, you need to take more risks in order to improve your team more quickly.
-
Our needs at TE and on the defense dictate that we devote all the early rounds to those.....a developmental QB woud be fine in r7.
We're bring Pierre Woods in
in College Football/NFL Draft

Looks like an 8th rounder.....
