We are in good hands. We may or may not win in Foxboro this Sunday. A lot of excellent teams have lost to them up there. Do we have a chance...you bet!
Keep the faith:
Marvin Lewis knows what he is doing! So do the rest of our coaches.
With our young defense coming together, Palmer learning so rapidly, another draft, and we will claw the AFC North crown out of Pittsburgh's hands next year! Only Baltimore can catch them this year...and that simply will not happen.
'Sup everyone, been away for a while. I kept an eye on things anonymously from time to time. Thought I would stop in for a few.
I was at Jack Astor's on Sunday for the Ravens game. I had a Ravens fan sitting behind me. His tone changed in that 4th quarter. Something told me not to leave when it got to 20-3. I just had a gut feeling that we were not going to lose.
Damn that felt good!!!! REAL good!!!!

Here are some of the mistakes I believe the Bengals made in the off season that have lead to where we are today...
1.) Drafting Chris Perry in the first round? Why...The defense is as porous as cheesescloth.
2.) Not signing Warren Sapp.....He would have added some fire to the defense and maybe raise the overall performance of the guys playing next to him.
3.) Benching Kitna in favor of Palmer....I think Palmer will someday be a good QB, But as I believed all along Kitna gave this tean the best chance to win. They are paying both of them anyway??? What's it matter if Palmer is watching for another year!
4.) All these X Washington players??? Evidently we are the Washington Redskins recycling center.
1. The jury is still out on Rudi Johnson at PBS obviously.
2. Warren Sapp is past his prime and not worth the money. I truly believe he had no intention of signing with us. We were leverage for him to get more money out of the Oakland Geezers.
3. Oh dear God.
4. Parcell's, and others, have done the same thing. Bring in players they knew personally from previous teams to try and fill holes. If they work out, great, if not, hopefully they help until they find someone in the draft or another FA.
Hasta Luego!
Take care.

Check ebay...you never know what you might find!

On the topic of clothing. I went to a NFL fan shop. And there were no Bengals jerseys. What is there deal? I really dont like ordering online, looks like im gonna have to go to some Bengals fan shop and spend alot of money on a jersey.
If I get another jersey, I'm going to order my own number with my name on it. They cost too much to get a jersey of a player who ends up on another team. My wife got me a Corey Dillon jersey two years ago. It took quite a while to get his name off of it. The name "panel" is sewed AND glued on.
I got that name removed though!!! hehe

Well put Josh.

If we make Eddie George look like his early years, I'll vomit.
Have a bag ready and some pepto...just in case. I hope it is not needed, we are at home, but it is not nationally televised.
I hope we click in every aspect of the game. Including the home crowd. They need to be into it early and all day.
-
KYBF: Point well taken. I hope he is holding them to a high standard. After this year is history, I wonder what changes we'll see.
-
Yeah, if this season has proved one thing, it is that we do not know which team will show up on Sunday. It's hard to speculate what the outcome will be.
I can only hope for the best then wait and see what I get.
Go Bengals!

JC...I agree on all counts!

Ya' know. I think I am going to update my sig with all the points we/I have made (like kevnz's above) in an attempt to stop repeating the obvious over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
We keep going back and forth over the same nonsense. Whether it's Palmer, or coaches, or whoever.
Damn this board is frustrating sometimes.

I always thought Paul Alexander was one of our best position coaches.
Am I wrong here???
-
So we're supposed to give Lewis 20 years of coaching before we judge the job he's done?
No, but how about a fair chance. I don't think the time he has currently had is a fair enough time to call for his head. Especially considering everything that we have talked about endlessly (injuries, rookie qb, etc, etc).
I think everyone can yell we expect better though!
-
Do we really know how much Lewis is "patting guys on the head"?
I can only speculate based on news conferences, etc. I don't get to see a lot of replays showing him on the sidelines during games interacting with whichever unit. My gut feeling is he could crank it up several notchs to get some people's attention.
Hey, it couldn't hurt. If he is getting in people's faces perhaps he needs to yell louder. I don't know.
A lot of the mistakes we are making are lack of concentration mistakes. (False starts, offsides when all you have to do is watch the ball.)
In another article they defended not calling a timeout because they thought they had it defended well and were expecting a pass, like they had seen in film review.
Really? They needed 1 maybe 1.5 yards, we have one guy against 4, and we have it defended well? Hindsight is perfect and maybe it did happen too quickly. Still, if I am Geathers, I'm the only one standing there, call a timeout. It is the first half. You will not be wasting a timeout.
Okay, I'll stop harping on the fake punt play. I need to get over that mindboggling stupid play.

My favorite part, and agree with wholeheartedly is the last part I bolded:
The ridiculous penalties make it hard to defend any coach, and, yes, the Bengals have followed up last year’s 6-1 October-November run with eight losses in their last 11 games. But we will defend Lewis because it is simply sheer, flat-out ignorance to call for a guy’s head with a career record of 10-13. People don’t like it, but we’ll wheel this stat out, especially during Dallas week.
After his first 23 games in 1983-84, Bill Parcells had a 7-15-1 record.
Of course, it may be time for Lewis to quit patting guys on the head with the positive reinforcement stuff. Hey, it’s Parcells week. Go off on some guys. His teams don’t seem to play tight when he comes down hard.

Read the totals for the poll and weep Bax! Carson is here to stay!
If bax stays true to his word in another thread (Peace) he will not be back for a while.
-
It wasn't missed. I even posted a congrats to Rudi in the thread asking people to vote.
I wish his numbers were good enough for another nomination this week.
:sigh:

What's going on here?? I'm agreeing with Barb on a couple things!
Pretty freakin' scary...isn't it!!!
-
Probably 900 million, or after every game that he blows it in the last 2 minutes. I would love to sit here and kiss his ass with our 6-1 record and his 14 td to 2 int. ratio, but that hasn't happend yet. I will praise him if he does good and I will dog him until he proves to be worth something. If he shows to be consistently good I will forgive games that he fumbles at the 9. Until then I will question his ability.
Oh dear God.
repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat
That is all we do on this board.

Does Perry even have a pulse? Where was he yesterday?
I think he is hurt.
-
How many threads are we going to have saying the same exact thing about Palmer?
Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is getting very, very, old.
-
I think this belongs in "Smack Central".
-
It happens all the time Josh, not just yesterday. Yesterday was bad, no doubt. But this kind of nonsense goes on all the time.
One example of many: How many people has bengalbax called a f@cking idiot or f@cking loser and how many have fired it right back since September alone? How about barbarian (his actually sound funny) but he fires 'em off with the best.
I do not expect moderators with full time day jobs to be on top of every post, but it has been going on for a long time.

When the kid is poised and plays like an adult, the Bengals look like a playoff contender
Interpretation: When the o-line actually does it's job and Palmer can count on it reasonably, and the running game is working, and the defense does enough, the Bengals look like a playoff contender
When he reverts to adolescence and believes his golden arm can achieve the impossible, the Bengals slip back into Not-There-Yet-villeInterpretation: When the o-line is giving up sacks, the running game isn't working, and the defense is being very generous, the Bengals slip back into Not-There-Yet-ville.
Like Kirk once posted, some people expected way too much, way too soon out of this team.
-
BTW - I'm not talking about you Bob, there's just all this crap from the weekend. I would actually like to have ONE THREAD that analyzes the game. Not just the mean spirited hate comments about the team, and other members.
I wasn't talking about you either. I feel like I do analyze a game, and take pride in seeing things differently than some people who just bash. I did completely freak out over the fake punt play, but let's be honest about that play...it was the biggest joke I have ever seen on a PROFESSIONAL football field.
When people are attacking people personally, why are the moderators not locking them out for a while like B24 threatened last night?

We certainly need help to get to the post season this year, but:
We have not been eliminated yet after 12 games! Sweet. One game at a time. The Patriots will be tough to beat. The Bengals can do it! If they want it bad enough...they can do it!
Go Bengals!
