The noobs did get some time yesterday. More would always be nice. Murphy was in for 22% of defensive snaps, got a sack and three tackles. Turner got the call in place of the injured CTB and had a couple nice plays. Princeton got another catch. Would have been nice to see Chase Brown but they would have to run the ball and apparently that's against the rules in Cincy or something.

They’ve been bad all year but yeah today was a new low. It’s kind of flabbergasting actually. Were Bates and Bell really that important? I can grok why the O has struggled: Burrow hurt, Higgins hurt, Irv was a bust replacing Hurst, ditto Williams/Perine, Volson flatlining, there are things you can point to. But the D is pretty much the same except for Bates and Bell, and injuries haven’t played a huge role. Yet the D has completely gone to hell. Baffling.

All wins at this point do is push us down the draft board. And looking at the schedule, even average play might get the Bengals 3 or 4 more wins. Pitt’s locker room is in meltdown, and both Indy and Minny are without their starting QBs too. An 8-9 or 9-8 finish buys us the worst of all possible worlds: no playoffs but a draft pick in the second half of the first. Get out there and do your worst, Jake! Make us all proud.
