Some food for thought from our friends over at phinphanatic.com
Based on that I'd say it's a no-brainer if we spend a draft pic on the QB. McElroy in the 4th.
If only stats told the whole story...
-
Also, Dareus' 10 yard split - the only straight line sprint that should matter, was 1.66 compared to Fairley's 1.76. Huge difference.

DT help will be there are 4 in Marcell Dareus. The guy would fit perfectly for what we do. We were terrible against the run so it shouldn't be out of the question to take a DT at 4.
I have to admit Dareus moved far better than I would have guessed. Very impressive but it makes me wonder why his pass rush stats aren't better.
Actually, Hair, I don't know if you saw it but Dareus did an interview on NFLN after his drills. Apparently, he suffered a pretty severe high-ankle sprain in the Arkansas game (#4 of the season), and they were getting beat. He saw the dejected look on the team's face, went in and got taped up and gave a big pep talk before leading the team back out for a win. I don't know how severe it was, but I had a high ankle sprain a couple of times and no way was I able to play on it within 2 months. And I don't way 320lbs.
Honestly, after watching the combine and my memory of Dareus from the year before... I'm thinking he might be my #1. My only reluctance is that I think we can get good DT talent at the top of Rd. 2 which might make the argument better for Green in 1. For me, between Green, Dareus, and Peterson it's an awful hard choice (Peterson because I think he might have Ed Reed/Troy Polomalu impact and how do you pass up on that?) My big concern is if those three are gone - in which case I wouldn't be crushed with Quinn or Bowers - but I don't think those two are quite the rarity at their position that the first three listed are...

We finally remembered we're a running team!

Maybe we trade Chad for Haynesworth now?

STOP THEM!!!!!

Ravens TD to Housh with 30 seconds left...

This will work...

Defense time to score.

The penalty didn't hurt us at all really. Actually, it gave us another chance to get a 1st down we didn't have. The sack, on the other hand...
-
The one thing he couldn't do was take the sack.

I like it. Stop the clock for us.

Still waiting for Pacman's pick 6.

Looked like Shayne Graham on that short kickoff
That's intentional. Trying to take Cribbs' running start away...
-
Browns are the team we were supposed to be right now. O line and power running. They will ice this game unless Seneca gives us the ball...
-
Why don't we ever try to block field goals? Guys are out there jogging!

Any news on Joseph?

Two quotes from Marvin's post-game presser that seem to suggest he's got some of the same anxiety about Brat getting too fancy that most of us run-the-ball-dammit supporters have. It's not as clear as it came off on the video, but here are the words:
"We had a lot of opportunities, and we’re moving in a lot of pieces (in terms of personnel.) We’ve got to take a look at how we might be killing our own rhythm with a lot of the moving parts we’ve got going on now. I think guys will get better with it as we go, but it can be a little bit unnerving, to me at least, and I’m sure everyone else."
...
What kind of moving parts bothered you?
“We’re changing a lot of personnel, and we’ve got some young guys. But I know why we’re doing it and we’ll keep getting better at it.”
That to me says: "We're trying to get too fancy and not sticking with what works when it is working." Which is exactly how I felt about our abandonment of a running game which was working pretty well early on.

Palmer is garbage unless he has an unreasonable amount of time and space in the pocket.
-
He could have been taking something to try to heal from his injury. Let's face it, he came back from that thing pretty darn fast...

FWIW-
I watched every snap of LeFevour during the last two Bears' preseason games and it got me pretty excited. He's got a major pro arm. He stands fearlessly in the pocket. And holy cow is he mobile. He was throwing 25 yard corner outs with pinpoint accuracy. He looks downfield pretty aggressively.
The Brown's were getting pretty good pressure on him and the only knock I see right now is that he might take a half-second too long to find the open receiver (he had time with the Cards and shredded them). Several 20-30 yard strikes that were on the money were flat dropped. If you take away the sacks and pressures in the last game the guy would have completed most of his passes.
Bernie Kosar couldn't stop complementing him ("very impressed") - and was openly wishing Colt McCoy would play up to his level and not be afraid to throw 20 yard plus range balls.
Sure, I'm a homer, but if I saw this guy on our team during the preseason I would be pretty stoked about his developmental potential.
I didn't watch the earlier games because I figured he'd be a bit more mature later on...
Edit: One great play: He's chased out of the pocket under heavy pressure, looks down field, and hits a receiver about 20 yards down field in front of him on the sideline. Not something I've seen around these parts for a long time... Next year's backup battle will be fun....

Exactly. And if the price for an unproven Kolb is a first and third (rumored, of course), it makes no sense why we shouldn't get more for Palmer. Sure, there's the age argument but...
And with all of those wagging tongues bringing up SF, I'd have to say that that #10 pick sounds fair to me. Especially with the new upcoming cap making it less damaging (in theory).
