  1. Amazing. Simply amazing.

How is it that players get surgery weeks (Jeanty) or even months (Kilmer) after they injure themselves? Joseph in a boot again? Can Carson use his knee rehab as a (successful) example and make some noise in the front office and get changes made on this medical staff.

    It's not funny anymore.

  2. Aside from the same-old same-old with the medical staff (hasn't management figured that they HAVE to clean house there yet?), I have to wonder if the Strength and Conditioning folks did something differently this year. The injuries this year have been unreal.

  3. I know this guy Edmonson. He used to be a neighbor and I went to school with his kids. He always had MAJOR political aspirations for all of the wrong reasons - namely he is a total douche-bag and has developed a taste for power to compensate for the fact that he's a little man. He was the kind of guy who would yell at the neighborhood kids for walking on his lawn.

  4. Wouldn't Brooks be suited to play SSLB with Odell in the middle? Sure, he played middle in college but one of the reasons we drafted him was because of his pass rushing abilities, which he could definitely do from the Strong side. Obviously, it assumes Odell would be playing middle, but I don't see any reason all three (Hartwell, OT, Brooks) couldn't play at the same time in that order.

  5. Nfldraftcountdown has him as the top safety left other than wendling, who I had my doubts about because he isn't great in coverage. We have great DB coaches, so I feel good about this one:

Has good size and bulk...Extremely tough and physical...Likes to hit and can really lay the lumber...Has good timed speed, athleticism & quickness...Aggressive with a great motor...Terrific ball skills...Hard worker...Still improving and has potential.

    Weaknesses:

Awareness, instincts and intelligence are questionable...Has some trouble getting off blocks...Doesn't have a lot of Division I experience...Is not the type who will be like an extra coach on the field...He still needs work from a technique standpoint.

    Notes:

Earned 14 varsity letters as a prep: four in football, basketball and track and two in baseball...Was a JUCO All-American at Kilgore College...An underrated prospect who has the physical tools and could really surprise...Could end up being a steal.

  6. Where he watched Reggie Nelson run a 4.35! Per NFL.com:

The players worked outdoors on grass in the swamp in ideal weather. There were about 100 personnle on hand, including Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis and Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, and quite a number of coordinators -- mostly defensive coordinators.

Defensive tackle Marcus Thomas was not present mainly due to his off-field problems. He is scheduled to work out separately on March 29 in Jacksonville.

    Player Position Gil's comments

Reggie Nelson DB Nelson ran the 40 once in a time of 4.35 seconds. He had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-6 long jump, ran 4.15 in the short shuttle and 6.70 in the three-cone drill. Nelson looked very good in the drills and may well have improved his stock.

Earl Everett LB Everett ran 4.82 and 4.73 in the 40, 4.46 in the short shuttle and 7.39 in the cone drill.

Ray McDonald DE McDonald (6-3 3/8, 282) ran 4.89 and 4.88 in the 40-yard dash, 5.07 in the short shuttle and 7.41 in the cone drill. He also had a 29-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-6 long jump.

  7. This guy's numbers were basically better than anyone's at the combine - across the board (well, except the bench). He seems a bit of a freak given his size. Nice to see the Bengals involved in some of the more obscure places. From NFL.com:

    San Jose State

There were 15 teams there, with Bengals assistant coach Louis Cloffi putting the DBs through the drills. The players ran on FieldTurf.

    Courtney Brown, DB

The Cal-Poly SLO product worked out at San Jose as part of their pro day and he really stood out with eye-popping numbers. He originally started school there as a wide receiver and was moved to DB in 2004. Brown (6-1 3/8, 200) ran two 40s, notching a 4.35 and 4.32. He had a vertical jump of 41 ½ inches, a 10-foot-11 broad jump, a 4.07 short shuttle, a 7.10 three-cone and 15 bench presses.

  8. I minute left to march down the field and score a field goal and we call a TO?????!!!!! And then we don't actually go for yards when we are in range?????!!!!!

Anyone not doubting the coaching on this team can now officially go F@ck themselves. And that was Marvin's choice, straight up. Straight up stupid.
