BengalsMan3203 Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Look out for next year.... After this season, the blood was already flowing... BOTH Pittsburgh and Cincinnati have taken it another level.Joey Porter in the pre-game of game # 1 in Cincinnati calling Cincinnati Soft, and they are still the same ole Bungles. (Needless to say, we played like it that game)Hines Ward Mocking Chads River Dance.Hines Ward Breaks out the Ickey Shuffle in Game # 2.Ben Rothlishberger complaining for 2 after the game that Odell Thurman laid a dirty hit on him. After this center had a interview on it and said he tripped Odell.Chad walking into the Cafe with the towel around his neck as a Bib, so he doesn't make a mess all over his shirt.TJ shining his shoes with a Terrible Towel in the locker room door way after the Bengals Won in Pittsburgh. The Who Dey chant in the Pittsburgh locker room once Bengals all but locked up the AFCN Crown.Chad Johnsons famous Black and White TV Compared to the new great thing.... (I cannot remember the quote, but we all know what he meant)The some what cheap/dirty hit on Carson Palmer in the Wild Card Weekend game back on January 8th.Nearly every Pittsburgh player and fans jumping up and down after they saw Carson laying on the ground in pain, knowing he wasn't likly to come back to play in the game.Joey Porter running his mouth to Cincinnati Fans during the Wild Card Game.Who I believe was either Farrior/Foote saying something along the lines of Who Dey? Who Dey? We Dey, in a post game interview on CBS.Bill Cowher leading the We Dey Chant in the locker room after their 31-17 victory in Cincinnati during the Wild Card Post-Game.Marvin Lewis saying "We are going to take this loss like a man. We aren't going to sit here and blame anyone but our self for this loss. We aren't going to be like Ben and complain about an injury and say it would of been different if Carson was in there" (something like that)Nearly 2 months after the final regular season game between the two heated teams... Bill Cowher once again... Duriing the Super Bowl parade in Pittsburgh broke out the We Dey Chant... The Fans are at each others throats, to the point they are ready to fight each other for no reason. Other then liking the team that you hate the most. (There has been a couple bar fights already from this)This is just the MAJOR Crap that happend in just 3 games this year.... With Cowher adding more fuel to the fire with this "speech" the other day, I'm guessing the fire is only going to get greater...Next year, its gonna be great... I hope CP is back in time to lay some whoop ass down on them.... Palmer has them figured out... It only took a couple times of facing that D for him to figure out some stuff... He'll be good to go.This is just the start of it.... It really is going to turn into one hell of a game for years to come.... It really could turn into a blood bath next year with tempers and everything else on all times high...I hope we get them on a prime time game.....I cannot wait..... Quote

derekshank Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 The best thing about this rivalry is that the players seem to hate the other as much as the fans do. With free agency the way it is, that is really rare. You usually only see these kinds of rivalries in college. The Ohio State/Michigan rivalry will not be outdone... but for all the talk about the Red Sox/Yankees... I think the players don't really care. The owners might, because the fans care so much... but it is primarily a fan rivalry. Most professional sports rivalries tend to be that way in this day and age... but for whatever reason, Pittsburgh/Cincinnati seems to be different. Even the coaches (who basically grew up together, and worked together) are really getting in the mix on this one. It makes it a lot more fun. Quote
Stripes Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 The NFL has been missing a fierce rivalry for a long time now. This bad blood starting to boil between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati is looking like it will change that. If it lasts, we could start to see a yearly MNF game like we're forced to watch with Dallas and Washington. This being a much more current rivalry than that or the others (like Green Bay/Chicago, Oakland/Denver, etc...) will probably cause most of the country to take interest. This should be a lot of fun.
