jungleman Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 hey steeler fans do you not understand that ben knows palmer and met with palmer in making his decision to go pro early and went to school 45 minutes from pbs? he knows palmer is better and thats it. palmer is a top 3 qb with manning and brady. ben is a game manager with brad johnson and trent dilfer got it? TIMEsteelersfan Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 This conversation isn't going anywhere fast... One final thought for me on this topic. RIGHT NOW, and I stress RIGHT NOW Carson is the better passer, but Ben is the better overall QB. We won't know anything for sure until several years from now.Who threw for 60% more yards? Carson PalmerWho had more wins this season? Carson PalmerWho had more losses this year? Carson Palmer. Quote
jungleman Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 better passer vs qb wtf are you talking about bens great hand off technique? wtf you proved ben right he knows palmer is better so should you homer. Quote
TIMEsteelersfan Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 better passer vs qb wtf are you talking about bens great hand off technique? wtf you proved ben right he knows palmer is better so should you homer.Couldn't let this one go. Do you think throwing the ball is the only job of the QB? Wow... you need to go learn the game a little bit before you try to speak with the Big Boys. There's so much more to the QB position than throwing the ball. If you knew football, you'd know that. Have A Nice time in this thread... I'm outta here. Quote

Wow... you need to go learn the game a little bit before you try to speak with the Big Boys. There's so much more to the QB position than throwing the ball. If you knew football, you'd know that. Certainly, there are many things that a quarterback must handle well to win a football game. I think amidst all this bickering I can derive one question that my fellow Bengals fans want answered...If Carson throws the ball better, then what does Ben do better to earn him your honors overall?*Note - I am not going to get involved with making an opinion on this topic, because I don't care about this topic. I only mean to make some order out of all this back and forth arguing. Quote
jungleman Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 really because explain to me your thoughts there cant you are dismissed. moron. Palmer is a leader and has lead his team from 8-8 to 11-5 last year ben was a manager that let bettis bring them to the afc title game. get out loser. and that 36 yo super bowl trophy is a little tarnished with age. Quote
jjakq27 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 That's tough... I mean the college season ends, and you continue throwing while preparing for the combine, and then you get draft and have to learn an entire playbook while still keeping you skills up to par. Then you go through mini camps and training camp, then preseason, then the season, then the postseason. All the while adding more and more plays to the playbook every week. I can see how he was tired both physically and mentally. On the note of him praising Carson... It's brilliant... never toot your own horn, that leads to bad things. Just another example of the class Steeler players have. I am surprised that some of your brethren didn't run his ass out of town yet. Blasphemy, I tell you. Quote
TIMEsteelersfan Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 OK... that's a fiar question that deserves an answer. And here it is...Physically bigger and stronger (Fact)He's a better leader on the field (Opinion)He's got better pocket awareness (Opinion)He's better with play action fakes (Fact)He's better at turning nothing into something (Fact)He's more mobile (Fact)He doesn't get rattled (Fact)With the game on the line he comes through. I can't even count the number of times he's moved us downfield late in games for the go ahead score. (Fact)Most importantly... as soon as Cowher lets this kid throw more he'll develope into a better passer as well. Quote
walshfan Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Palmer is the same heigth as Ben 6'5" .. Ben is overweight and out of shape due to his lack of training..Palmer lost 20lbs before the season started and came into camp quicker and more toned...Palmer is a better pocket passerBen doesnt get rattled?? Please give me a break...Palmer would be chosen over Ben by every team in the NFL hands down Quote

HairOnFire Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Most importantly... as soon as Cowher lets this kid throw more he'll develope into a better passer as well. And why doesn't Cowher allow Ben to throw the ball more? Because he's not ready to be the offensive focus, right? Thus, Cowher keeps the training wheels on the Ben bike. Granted, that's almost certainly been the correct thing to do. However, Steeler fans are always quick to prop up Bens won/loss record, a silly rant that ignores the very manner in which the Steelers win games. In fact, you'd almost have to wonder if those fans who prop up Ben's winning percentage have bothered watching the Steelers play. Big Ben = a better version of Kyle Orton You had it right when you said this thread wasn't going anywhere....because there simply isn't anywhere for it to go. Ben said Palmer was a better QB, and he's right. Palmer is going to the Pro Bowl. (Fact) Palmer was a worthy MVP candidate. (Fact) Ben was none of these things. (Fact) In fact, by your own admission Ben is still a player that has been limited by his head coach into being a glorified game manager instead of the focus of his teams own offensive attack. So where was this thread supposed to go? Quote

If you don't toot your horn because it leads to bad things, then you're not doing it because you're classy, you're doing it because if you don't it leads to bad things. He's a cocky douche. Even when he compliments someone, he usually comes off as an arrogant prick. "I don't care what anyone says, they say Peyton Manning, they're all wrong, Tom Brady is the best QB in the league." Quote
Stripes Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 The anti-Ben bias amongst Bengals fans isn't like it is for Ravens or Browns fans. I know I was a fan when he played with the Redhawks, and was disappointed when he feel to the Steelers. We've had reason to love and reason to hate Mr. Roethlisberger. The latter were all his doing. The whole rapper thing last year comes to mind... Quote
CT Stiller Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Ben speaks the truth... Palmer has much more talent...As far as Palmer wearing down.. no.He received tme off last weel so he should be more than ready to air it out..Yeah, a week will be plenty of time to recover. Quote
smith288 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Hillarious"Palmer is the better passer but Ben is the better overall QB"Im sorry...but this confirms my beliefs I had about the general Steeler fan base that I was sure was a misconception. I am wrong, they are correct beliefs....Are we sure this person isnt just mocking steeler fans and posting purposely funny posts?? Seriously, you cant make that up. Quote

TIMEsteelersfan Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 It was ridiculous of me to think Ben was better than Carson Palmer in any area of the game. Carson has mastered the QB position from A-Z. What was I thinking... Carson is Gods gift to football and Ben isn't even worthy to shine his shoes. All Hail Carson Palmer. Quote
smith288 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Im thinking an intervention is required here. This person clearly is sniffing glue and the family isnt too afraid to approach him. Being humane Bengal fans, I believe it is our duty as Bengals fans first, humans second, seek him treatment in order to put him on a path to recovery. Not a moment to lose in this serious and grave situation. Wont you help? Quote
