After getting by for weeks on momentum and adrenaline, Roethlisberger said, he admittedly ran out of gas once the playoffs arrived. He now blames that performance on playing or practicing for almost two nonstop years, through his senior season at Miami of Ohio, the draft combine, the NFL draft, the Steelers' training camp and a full season.

"Mentally, your brain is fried," he said. "I know it sounds crazy to say, but you're trying to learn a new offense. Every week, you're putting new plays in. Mentally, I was trying to figure out what was going on. Physically, my arm felt like it was dragging on the floor."

This, is what I'm afraid has happened to Carson this year. Easy to forget this is his 1st 16+ game season. I hope the time-off last week gave his arm a needed rest.

That's tough... I mean the college season ends, and you continue throwing while preparing for the combine, and then you get draft and have to learn an entire playbook while still keeping you skills up to par. Then you go through mini camps and training camp, then preseason, then the season, then the postseason. All the while adding more and more plays to the playbook every week. I can see how he was tired both physically and mentally.

On the note of him praising Carson... It's brilliant... never toot your own horn, that leads to bad things. Just another example of the class Steeler players have.

Yep, that's true. There is simply no way Ben actually knows/believes Carson is better. No way that's possible. No way. He's just classy, and being nice ... brilliant. Yeah, that's it.

Brilliant indeed, but not because Big Ben doesn't toot his own horn, he's really good at that. However, he is brilliant because he realizes Carson Palmer is twice the QB he is. Lets face it, do you really think Ben doesn't know that if he doesn't throw the ball, it won't change the Squeelers game at all?

Sarcasm is noted. How much of Carson do you think he's seen this year? How about two games. On top of that... I gaurantee you Ben thinks that he is the superior QB... all the great ones do.

Hey, you're right, the great ones do. That's why Ben knows he's not.

OK... you've set a new standard with this one. Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Yeah he never makes key throws or puts us into position to score or wins games for us. Completely moronic.

"It is Carson's first playoff game, but he's a better quarterback than I was," Roethlisberger said of Palmer, who ranked second in the NFL in passer rating (101.1), one spot ahead of Roethlisberger (98.6). "So I don't know how much it will affect him."

Note the word WAS in Bens statement.

Ben threw the ball all of 268 times the entire freaking season. In half the games he played, he threw the ball 20 times or fewer.

Palmer on the other hand had at least 20 receptions in all but 3 of his games.

Ben's job is to give the ball to any fat slob behind him, doesn't matter who it is, and get out of the way. After doing that a while, he uses play action. MY GRANDMOTHER could do that.

Do you actually think that Ben is a better QB than Palmer is ?

That`s like saying Jake Plummer is better than Peyton Manning !

I THINK HE'S SEEN A LOT MORE OF CARSON THAN YOU THINK..............I WOULD IMAGINE HE SITS AND WATCHES A LOT OF TAPE OF OUR OTHER GAMES, TOO. THAT'S WHAT GREAT PLAYERS DO.......BUT, IF YOU ARE SAYING HE'S ONLY WATCHED THE TAPE OF TWO GAMES..............THEN HE REALLY IS WORTHLESS.

USC VS. MIAMI OF OHIO.......RIGHT? HMMM??????

Come on guys, who really cares what Benji thinks? He's designed perfectly for Steeler nation ... doesn't want to throw too much for fear of interceptions, cocky and obnoxious, and has an excuse for every loss. That's the definition of a Steeler fan. BTW ... have you heard? ... he's already laid out the excuse of his thumb and knee as still problematic (just in case he fails, then he'll have that to lean on). Not too many Steeler fans could do it any better than he does.

You forgot that Ben has only threw for 300+ yards in a game twice in his career. (Both losses...one to the Bengals)

And he has only threw for 3 TD`s in a game once in his career. (loss to the Bengals)

Why would Ben watch tape of Cincy's offense? That's gonna be a tough one for you to BS your way through. I'm sure he's seen lots of tape on your defense. But unless he plans on playing defense the only thing he's seen of Palmer was on the sidelines during the two games.

You're probably right, Ben wouldn't watch other teams offenses. The GREAT ONES, on the other hand watch other QBs to improve their games. Look what Palmer did watching Manning....

Who has the better record as a starter?

Hint: The same guy who will get the "W" on Sunday.

That happens during the offseason. Not during the regular season... they have enough to worry about.

I think you`ve confused wins as a QB stat...it`s actually a TEAM stat.

Roethlisberger has a top 5 rushing attack and a top 5 Defense that does

more to win than he does. Ben is a "manager" of the game.

He has proven that he can`t be counted on to win it with his arm.

Thus his two career best games for yardage and TD`s were LOSSES.

Hint, my grandmother could have stood behind the steelers line and gotten out of insert a fat slob's way and gotten Ws.

Who threw for 60% more yards? Carson Palmer

Who had more wins this season? Carson Palmer
