dcbengal1 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 I don't know if anyone has accounted for the fact the Bengals had the latest bye of any team in the NFL. This was counted as an advantage for the Colts game, and it may have been, but I think the Steelers had a big advantage in getting a bye before the Bengals did, vis a vis the previous Bengals-Steelers game. Has anyone noticed that the offensive line play is lightyears better since the bye? Defensive struggles aside, it really looks as if the Bengals are hitting their stride now and may be a huge change from the previous game with Pitt. Of course we'll have to see. Quote
AMC Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 think most of the bye was spent installing more no-huddle....Stroke of genius getting that going the last half of the season gearing toward the playoffs.... Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 The no huddle was added after watching Manning eat us up with it. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Absolutely agree that the offense has been MUCH more solid and productive following bye week. The defense has been mostly the same, but the improvement vs. the Rats was noticeable. If the offense can continue to click like this, neither the Steelers nor anybody remaining on the schedule should be able to outscore us. After that, we're one scarey playoff team. However, the offense has been a little fragile at times, so staying consistently on this level may be somewhat of a challenge. Quote
HairOnFire Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 The no-huddle wasn't added after watching Manning. They've used it in every game they've played this season, including the opener against the Browns. All they've done is increase how often they use it, and according to comments made by Palmer, increase the number of plays they run out of it. Quote
Stripes Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Under Marvin, the Bengals have always seemed to hit their stride soon after the bye week. That extra week to analyze any shortcomings is crucial to getting things going. We haven't been struggling in the redzone, penalties are down, and contrary to popular belief, I think the run defense has performed better too. Quote
jditty47 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 yep, they've done it every year since lewis has been there...diff this year is we actually had a winning record going into it. Quote
