Let's not blow it against Pittsburgh
HairOnFire
If the subject is Power Rankings then it must be time for my weekly Ditka update. When we last left Iron-headed Mike he had moved the Bengals up from #4 to #3 despite a heartbreaking loss to the Colts. Now we find that he's dropped them from his list altogether despite their victory over the Ravens. All of which leads me to repeat my belief that Mike played too many downs without a helmet. BTW, Eric Allen ranked the Bengals 4th...the first time in many weeks that he's shown them any love.
bengalindian
Mike Ditka was in "Kicking & Screaming," a movie about soccer. 'Nuff said.
Stripes
The caption in ESPN's ranking:You think a few Bengals started looking ahead to Week 13's matchup with the Steelers when they were up 34-0 in the third quarter against the Ravens?More than likely. This puts me at more ease in regards to how our defense will perform in the near future. This seems an obvious possibility, but it never came to mind as Kyle Boller was throwing all those touchdowns (now theres a sentence I'd never have expected to type! ). bengalindian
CBS' rankings always confuse me because of their comments. I'm fine with where they put us, it IS their opinion, but "The offense is really clicking, but don't you have some concerns about that defense heading to Pittsburgh? Can they outscore the Steelers?"WTF? Did they not watch the Colts? They question the offense, but shouldn't they be questioning if the Bengals can be physical like the Colts were in beating the Steelers? Whatever... DontPushMe
I dont get it, we go INTO Chicago and beat the crap out of the bears, dominateing them on both sides of the ball, yet they are better than us? Power rankings are stupid.
Junglelove4
How about pit losing to the ravens last week and gettin smacked by indy this week, yet staying at # 6?
bengalindian
I say this every week, and will continue to say it. Power Rankings are created by fat, don't know what it's like to be athletic, paid to make people mad journalists, and no one should care. We all know how good the Bengals are, and it's not like the power rankings are going to decide anything regarding anything of any importance. Stripes
Here are ESPN's rankings before week one. Rather humorous...2005 Power Rankings: Week 11 (1)Patriots 14-2-0 The Patriots are really going to miss Tedy Bruschi. He often is cited as the Pats' leader on defense, which is true. But what sometimes gets lost in that description is that he's also one of the best LBs in the NFL.2 (3)Colts 12-4-0 It's unclear how quickly he'll be able to contribute, but Corey Simon could end up being a huge addition. As good as the Colts are on offense, they only need to get a little better on D to make a huge impact.3 (2)Eagles 13-3-0 It's been a tumultuous offseason for the Eagles, but they still have to be considered the favorites in the NFC.4 (4)Vikings 8-8-0 Daunte Culpepper is a stud, but it's still legitimate to wonder how big an impact Randy Moss' departure will have on him.5 (5)Steelers 15-1-0 The Steelers and QB Ben Roethlisberger have struggled some on offense in the preseason. While it's just the preseason, some folks in Pittsburgh are starting to get a little edgy.6 (6)Falcons 11-5-0 Opening against the Eagles on Monday night in prime time is great and all, but Falcons have lost 14 of their past 16 games on MNF.7 (8)Chargers 12-4-0 The Chargers are a bit of a mystery, and most of it centers around Drew Brees. Is he the QB who threw 27 TDs and just seven INTs last season, or is he the guy the Chargers were ready to send packing before last year's campaign.8 (7)Ravens 9-7-0 The Ravens have given Kyle Boller some weapons to work with (signing WR Derrick Mason, drafting WR Mark Clayton and naming Jim Fassel offensive coordinator). Now he needs to perform.9 (9)Jets 10-6-0 The Jets need Chad Pennington at the top of his game if they're going to make a run at the Patriots this year.10 (10)Panthers 7-9-0 The Panthers want to be a running team, but that doesn't mean you should overlook Jake Delhomme. Check out his numbers from last year: 3,886 yards and 29 TDs. That's pretty good. That's the NFL for ya... When the year started, that looked like a very logical top ten (except Baltimore ).
