HoosierCat Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Yes, we have seen this before. But not in 1988……it was a few years earlier……and the parallels aren't with the team that lost that game……but with the team that won.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XVIThe 49ers' success surprised many because they finished with a 6-10 record during the previous season, and a 2-14 record before that. A major reason for the team's improvement was the emergence of their young quarterback Joe Montana. In just his third season in the league, Montana completed 311 out 488 passes (a 63.7 completion percentage) for 3,565 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Bengals were 6-10 two seasons before Marvin's arrival, and 2-14 in the season that led to his hiring.A major reason for our improvement this year is the emergence of our young quarterback, Carson Palmer, in just his third season in the league. The 49ers reign began that year…in Detriot. Our turn. rob_justdmb Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Seeing the name Zander at LB definitely does my heart good.... yeah dude, Zander was a baller. He was the heart of that D. Really, I haven't seen us have a better inside linebacker in my fandom (which started around 86). Definitely the most underrated defensive player we've ever had.Riley should be my signature as I'm member #13. I Have lots of cool screenshots from games that I can use. I'm a sucker for the fake Topps cards though. Quote
