jamesbrooks21
West Virginia dominated from the first drive on to beat Cincinnati 38-0. 296 yards rushing in the win for the Eers. Cincy did seem to have some promising young talent. They might be able to compete in a few years. WV is young too though which doesn't bode well for the rest of the conference. Steve Slaton (25 for 129, 4TDs) is a true freshman. Pat White (8-13 for 109 and a TD, ran 8 times for 110) is a redshirt freshman. Darius Reynaud (TD catch) is also a freshman. What will be fun to watch is the upcoming Big East basketball season. With what they have now it is the best basketball conference in the nation IMHO. AMC
What's interesting is the WVU-South Florida match-up may determine a BCS bid! USF in the BCS?????Being a South Florida PhD grad I have to be proud and doubtful at the same time!
jamesbrooks21
South Florida has some athletes. They absolutely destroyed Louisville. Not that there is a such thing as a quality loss but 2 of their 3 losses came from top ten teams(Miami and Penn State). They are definitely a scary team to play. As long as USF can win at UConn then that game will be for a BCS spot. The Mountaineers shouldn't have any problem with Pitt at home and should go into the game at 9-1. Then the bowls pick whoever they want. That's the way it's been in the past.

They would have to take the highest ranked in the BCS standings. West Virginia could hypothetically lose to Pitt and win against USF and still get in. USF is the only team remaining with one loss so they would have to win out, beating the Mountaineers in the process. I think USF might have problems at UConn later this month, which would all but clinch the Mountaineers a spot.

But the rest of the bowls just pick and choose who they think will bring the most fans. The big east always was a little effed up in its ways because Notre Dame had a tie in with it. I wonder if that arrangement still exists.
Stripes
I honeslty don't the Bearcats getting much better anytime soon. They struggled in Conference USA to compete, and they are in a much tougher spot now in the Big East. The coaching is bad, they don't recruit very well, and the current roster just doesn't look good enough. Unless they land a superstar sometime soon, I doubt they will compete. Gator Bowl is the one that usually snatches them up and it will happen again this year if Notre Dame somehow isn't in a BCS bowl.
