Section 310 Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 The link is to a FoxSports story highlighting some of the UFA's available at the end of the season. The Bengals need to pick up a quality DT or SS through free agency. This will allow them to draft the other.A couple of interesting DT's are Grady Jackson (GB)...the huge guy on the field last week, and Lional Dalton of the Ravens whom we see this week. The safeties include Tank Williams, Chris Hope and Corey Chavous.UFA's Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I know OG is not a need but LeCharles Brantley would be a great pickup.I say we go with draft picks as much as possible to build the team, and there does not seem to be many DT's worth paying big money to in UFA. Quote
Columbusbengal Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 there does not seem to be many DT's worth paying big money to in UFA.There probably won't be many DTs worth paying first round money to in the draft either - at least by the time the Bengals will (hopefully) be picking Quote

It would vault that o line into the upper tier in all of football. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 I can see Marvin going after an interior 0-lineman in FA. I really don't think Guy-chick is ready for the NFL - a good back-up for now would be fine.Bobbie Williams is woefully average, as is Levi and Braham. Quote

bengalboomer7 Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 The revolving door on his side of the field. Levi is good, but not spectacular Quote
derekshank Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 there does not seem to be many DT's worth paying big money to in UFA.There probably won't be many DTs worth paying first round money to in the draft either - at least by the time the Bengals will (hopefully) be picking That is an uninformed statement. DT's are incredibly deep in this years draft... and on on several projection sites I have looked at, there have been 4-5 DT's projected in the mid to late 1st round. I would have to go back and look, but I don't beleve any DT's went in the 1st round last year... so it certainly looks good for us to get a good DT through the draft. As far as a SS, I'd be okay with getting one through FA, as well as an O-lineman, since we are starting to look a bit shallow there. This team is really starting to come together though. There aren't a whole lot of positions that we need to desperately fill in FA this year... which should give us some freedom to get a big name, as well as resign our own talent... a priority that is often forgotten in the big story reporting media. The big stories are always players going to new teams... but forgetting the team that player left, and the hole in that roster he left behind. If we fill the S hole, and get a rookie DT that performs as well as our rookies have performed that past two years... we should be primed for a superbowl.
