schweinhart Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Either way, I'd be surprised if Baltimore doesn't move the ball well vs. Bengals.Depends. If the Bengals play like they did in he first half against Pitt --- move the ball well but fail to put many points on the board -- the Ravens will be able to stick with their run game, and given the opportunity I'm sure Jamal will be able to pile up 100+ yards. Bottom line, we need points.I think there will be more balanced run/pass playcalls by the Rats either way. They won't go all out pass unless they're down by 2 TDs into the 4th or all out run unless it's the other way around in their favor. The Rats actually have a short-mid area pass game that should flourish w/o enough pass rush to force quick throws. It's chance of success vs. the Bengals is greater because they can run out of the same formations, which is gonna put Cincy LBs in the awkard position of trying to play both on their heels for coverage and aggressive in run gaps at the same time.I fully expect Baltimore's best and most rounded performance all season. I'm guessing 23 points and only their unfamiliarity w/ red zone offense will keep them from topping 30 pts.The Rats use of 3 different TEs and both Jamal and Taylor as receivers out of the backfield (sometime togther split) makes it harder to match up w/ DBs and should force the Bengals hand to come out w/ a 4th LB for a lot of this game unless Ohalete has convinced Marvin that he'll have the game of his life. KEV~DOG Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I think this will be the most pivotal game of the season. If they lose this one, they could very well lose to the Colts at home. 6-4 will put them back with the rest of the pack. 7-2 or 7-3 will be the cushion needed. I'm not saying that they can't beat the Colt's, but we all know how tough that will be. Sunday's game is bigger than the Steeler game.I agree, if the Bengals drop this one all the naysayers will come out of the woods. Quote

At least on offense; if their D gets a score or two, maybe. Buut while they've had their lapses, the Bengals have been much improved in not letting that happen vs. last year's INT-returned-for-a-TD fest.I'm sure the Ravens will come to play, but if the Bengals lose IMHO it will be another case of them playing poorly and letting the other team get the upper hand. If the Bengals have their game on Sunday, they win no matter how well Baltimore plays.Yes, they can and will run, and they can and will complete some short/mid-range throws. But as long as the Bengals D can prevent Jamal from going off on a couple 70-yard TD runs, they'll be OK. They'll force the Ravens to move up the field 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 yards at a time, and Wright will make mistakes. All I'm realy worried about is the bengals' getting their offense back on (scoring) track, which is going to require better QB protection, which is a big reason I like Shula's plan.Bengals will win. ArmyBengal Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 If the Bengals get out in front and Wright is forced to throw, we win easy. If one of the RB's run like crazy over our D, it could give Wright an opportunity I would rather him NOT have. Important game or not ?? Division game and you pick, 2-1 or 1-2 in the Division ?? A loss here going into a bye week and then playing Indy can shift the order of the AFCN very VERY quickly. We need to be winning these games PERIOD...WHODEY !!! Quote
The Big Orange Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 If Pollack is out again this game...then Geathers has his break out game. This is one of those games where our history gives them the benefit of the doubt and we are giving them too much credit. This will be another great division week for us...Favre is going to pull it out against the Steelers and we will trounce the Ravens by 2 touchdowns (or more)I think we will see our most balanced defensive effort to match our balanced offense...3 sacks...3 picks...1 TD against...2-3 FG against Offensively Rudi runs for 2...Carson throws for 2-3...Shayne kicks for 2-3Chris Henry's breakout game is vs. Indy on the National stageChris Perry wow's the world in the post season Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 That what I think, but I am not worried about Jamal " I snort Coke" Lewis, Im worried about Chester Taylor, he's averaging 7 yards per carry. I think we'll win but they're gonna run though.I'm worried about him too.Especially since we let Fred Taylor and Chris Brown look like their old selves against us.They both ran for 100 + yards quite easily, when in previous games they had struggled.I don't want Jamal Lewis to get his confidence back from us. schweinhart Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Bengals will win. I'll agree with this but not by much.Bengals 24Ratbirds 23The Bengals D sure looks like its struggles will continue vs. both the run and TE coverage for this one.But Carson should strike gold on a few big plays downfield to Housh, Chad, and Henry and maybe even the swing out, sideline go to Chris Perry like they tried vs. Bears w/ Urlacher on him.
