Did you guy's see Jaws breakdown the game ( steelers vs. Bengals) One play in particular caught my eye. It was the play Palmer threw an INT @ the start of the half. Jaws showed us in a 4 wide formation with Pitts D in a cover 3 what he showed was Hope, the middle Safety, jumping TJ coming across the middle from the left side while Walter was running a post on the right. Walter was wide open for a TD he had 4 steps on the corner with nothing but endzone in front of him !! I don't think Palmer ever seen him he looked to be staring down TJ . Man, that with Henry dropped pass we left 14 pts. right there on the field. Both plays would've really changed the MO. Anyone else catch that on the show ?

I know would've... could've...should've but I couldn't help but to feel those plays could've changed the outcome & we kind of beat ourselves.

After watching the tape I thought Pitts secondary was much more aggressive in the 2nd. half , they gambled on a couple out routes too. Maybe next time we can exploit that with pump fakes, out & ups, double moves etc. for some big plays. Oh well we have to focus on the Ratbirds !!

I hate to say it, but Palmer still looks shaken. Even in the GB game he was throwing behind recievers and making bad reads. Going into the Pittsburgh game he was so cofident that now he might be stirred up. I know he'll turn it around, especially after the bye week. However, i hope he plays better in the Baltimore game. I'm not saying he played bad (he did have a QB rating of 102), but he was playing MVP/HOF caliber and he just hasn't been there the last 2 games.

They made a comment about Big Ben in that he was throwing "a beat too early" some times as Cowher put it. I see the same thing with Palmer at times - it's inexperience. He does look rattled lately and seems to be throwing to his out guy or underneath instead of waiting that extra second or two for a big play.

Palmer takes what defenses give him and has been coached obviously to play a high percentage game and stay away from the middle of the field too often (unfortunately - as that is where cover 2's are soft).

But as you saw last night, Benrallied in the two minute drill, made some big time, accurate throws downfield and put them in a position to win the game.

We have to be patient with Palmer, let him see these teams 2-3 times and get used to their scheme and personnel, and let him develop over time - he's still very young and relatively inexperienced yet.

What's so impressive about Palmer is that Sunday, despite letting go of the ball too soon (would rather see that then him holding onto it too long aka Akili) at times, he still had a 100+ QB rating and threw 3 Td's and for some decent yardage.

If the defense gives him enough shots in a game, they can potentially and realistically beat anyone they face.

I think we just need to relax, don't over-react and say he is still affected by the Pittsburgh game. He is going to have a bad game every once and a while and even on the days he's not as sharp as he usually is he still throws 3 TD's and has 65% completions. You need to look at the whole body of work, not just one game or one play where he didn't see a receiver... and the whole body of work shows he is a top 5 among MVP candidates and a Passer rating of 104.1.

So give the guy a break.

Yeah... and even though he wasn't "as sharp" as usual... he still made several throws right on the money, that we flat out beautiful.

He's still the front-runner for the MVP (although Jake Plummer is catching him), and I think maybe we got a little spoiled those first 6 games, thinking he would never make another mistake his whole career. He's still just a 2nd year starter, and is well on his way to being one of the best EVER.

relax please.

I wasn't knocking Palmer at all. He's going to be (is) great & I think we've finally found a franchise QB to lead us to a Superbowl. I don't think the Pitts game has effected him , I think the O-line hasn't been giving him the time, he's been under alot of pressure the last couple weeks. The O-line has to buy him the extra sec or two.

I just didn't see that play while watching the game until Mon night & after seeing it I realized we wasn't but two plays from probably winning it we just did'nt capitalize on the opportunities is all & the way they seemed to jump on a couple routes in the 2nd half is something we may be able to exploit when we see them again.
