walzav29
I watched last night's game and those guys were just pounding eachother. I have watched every Bengal game, and almost all of them twice as I watch them on TIVO during the week. I just don't see that level of toughness, aggressiveness, and overall intensity. I love the INT's, but you don't get those when the other team is running it down your throat. Odell I think is a step in that direction, but the way Porter called our boy's the Bungles and it went with no response was reminiscent of Rocky 4, when Apollo was dancing and jiving and all Drago said was "You will lose" and it deflated Creed. Same thing.
BengalszoneBilly
I hate it when someone sums up our team with a quote from a cheeseball "Rocky" movie.

walshfan
speaking of roadmaps....Marvin has accumulated allot of speed in his drafts..Geathers is a quick linemen.Landon Johson, Odell. Caleb Miller and Pollack are very qucik but not the biggest guys in the world...I see this team acquiring a NT and going to a 3-4 defense oneday..Hell Thornton and Robinson are DE by trade...Stick a NT between them and you have a formidable Dline with Geathers and Clemons in the rotation... Shaun Smith as backup NT in this scheme....Our 4 backers would be free to hit gaps and blitz more ....thoughts????
thefrazz
Marv has always liked fast guys who swarm to the ball. Once he gets the guys who are fast and can shed blocks this D will have his sig. Marv likes to get guys with the tools and smarts, then teach the skills, rether then get the opposite. He is a firm believer that 11 guys have to attack the ball carrier. He isn't much on blitzing and believes that the front 4/5 should be able to pressure the QB. He has the DB's (specially when WIlliams is healthy) to provide the time for the front line to get to the QB. Our front line just does not intimidate anyone. I like Robinson a lot...he has shown me enough to be glad we picked him up. We just need somone bigger and stronger to compliment him. (Sorry JT...I hope we keep you, but I don't see you as a starter next year.) Hit next years draft and pick up the best DT you can find...maybe 2 in case one doesn't work out...or just for the compitition it will provide for Robinson, Thorton, Clemons, etc.We are getting there. Our LB corps should be top 10...or even top 5 in the next 2-3 years with the development of Johnson, Miller, DP and Odel. That would be a nice 4 LB set with either Miller or Simmons in there.Anyhow...it's getting there. Marv seen more of a weakness in the LB corp then the DL...hopefully he will see that the LB's are in good shape now and that our dire need is DL, TE then SS. derekshank
Marvin usually laughs when people keep bringing up the 3-4. I doubt he has any real intentions of doing it. He might... but I'm not a big fan of it. I don't like a scheme that relys on LB's to stop the run. That may be what we do now... but it isn't by scheme. Perhaps Marv is doing just that. perhaps he wants to get the right LB's for the 3-4 option before he aquired a NT. Our DE's are capable of working in a 3 front scheme IMO with an option LB coming in from the backfield.
derekshank
I will admit that a 3-4 would make Pollack a bit more 2 dimentional, because they could quickly change looks by having him run up and put his hand on the ground, and turn it into a 4-3... but I just don't see it happening.
