In the 1960s Mara had the choice of negotiating exclusive broadcast rights for the Giants; he would have made a fortune, and given the Giants the large-market advantage that the Yankees have enjoyed for so long. But for the good of the sport he declined, and as a result we have the revenue sharing arrangement that makes the NFL the best run pro sport around.
