bengalskyspy Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I believe this loss will do more good than harm. More than the Jags loss. With the Jags, the Bengals clearly beat themselves. The Steelers delivered a typical Steeler ass-kickin'. Don't get me wrong, the Bengals beat themselves in this game too. But it was different. It wasn't mistakes, it was a failure to make plays when they had the opportunity. If Henry makes that catch, it would have been a completely different game. I think this team now gets it. They now know who they are at this point in their development. They are an offensive powerhouse, with an opportunistic defense. This is a perfect formula if you get out to an early lead. They are pretty unbeatable when they get out to a lead.Sometimes you need to get your nose bloodied to figure out who you are. Quote
derekshank Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 No such thing as a good loss. I'm tired of looking for the silver lining here. Does it wake our guys up? Maybe... hopefully... and as it sometimes goes in life, maybe a bad thing can turn good in the long run... only time will tell. But I find it hard to think that the only thing that could motivate these guys to excellence is a humiliating defeat. Bengals fans know that 15 years of it didn't help motivate anyone... so we just have to hope that this one is different, and move on. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Both good points. Willie Anderson qoute's a Pat Riley book on hobson's site. Check it out, I don't wanna ruin it for ya Quote
AMC Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I never understood the concept of a good loss, no such thing....If all you do is learn from losses, you suck! You think the Colts are wishing they would lose so they could find out about themselves?Move on and don't try to overthink a loss. I believe we LEARN MORE FROM WINNING THAN WE DO LOSING!WHO-DEY Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 The only thing learned by THIS loss, was how it feels to get completely ran the F**K over, have a complete TEAM letdown, and get embarassed on your homefield. Not exactly what I want this team to be taught. Past lessons of this type were followed by 2-14 seasons and us having the #1 pick in the draft F**K that !!! Will something good come from this loss ?? God I hope so, but it's still not what I'm looking for in this young team.WHODEY !!! Quote

Stripes Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 This was a bad loss, simple as that. "The biggest Bengals game in 15 years" turned into a huge flop. Week 7 is over, and now we look to the Packers. Quote

MacD BengalFan Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 They only thing that can come out of a loss is learning from the mistakes that were made and work to correct them. The Bengal teams prior to Marvin Lewis's arrival, they never seemed to learn from those loses and the mistakes. They would just repeat them every week. With Marvin and staff in place, I believe the mistakes will be corrected and potential new ones will be minimized. Look for a much better performance from the Bengals next week against Green Bay. kingwilly Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Or as my favorite author, Jack Handey, said:"If you think you can turn a weakness into a strength, I hate to tell you but that is just another weakenss." Quote
