derekshank
Jacksonville plays @ Pittsburgh next week... so it will be pretty important for Jax to get a victory... although I doubt they will. If we are going to lose to teams, we need it to be to teams that will also beat Pitt. Otherwise, we need to beat teams that will beat Pitt. For instance, since we lost this game that Pitt will likely win, we are forcing ourselves to beat Indy, who will likely beat the Steelers. It's only one game, but we put oursleves in a whole when we lose to lesser teams. It will now be important to win next week, because Pitt has already beat Tennessee. Then we need to beat Pitt at home, beat GB, because there is no way the Steelers will lose to them, and then most likely beat a very poorly playing Ravens team, because I imagine the Steelers will sweep them again. 7-1 will look pretty good... but it will be necessary. It would also be nice to see Pittsburgh lose tonight. They already lost to NE, who we don't play, and we don't play SD either. If they lost both of those, and we come up even against Buffalo and KC, then this loss will be made up for.So all in all... not the end of the season by any stretch... but we need to beat teams that Pittsburgh will beat, plain and simple. CBin2k7
It won't matter if we beat Pittsburgh twice. Which I think we can do.
Stripes
Sure, this game can hurt us in the standings, but it is a bit much of us in my opinion to expect such a season that this single loss will change the outlook so much. The Steelers probably will beat the Jaguars next week, but the Steelers are at home. I am confident that the Steelers would have had similar struggles on offense had they been the ones playing in Jacksonville last night. San Antonio Bengal
For instance, since we lost this game that Pitt will likely win, we are forcing ourselves to beat Indy, who will likely beat the Steelers. It's only one game, but we put oursleves in a whole when we lose to lesser teams. We are not forcing ourselves to beat Indy. Pittsburgh already lost to New England. Should Pittsburgh defeat Jax, we only need to defeat our AFC East opponent, Buffalo to bring things back into alignment. We'd be up a game vs AFC East and Pittsburgh's up a game vs AFC South... and it's break even at that point. Same overall record, same conference record.By the way, Jax is not a "lesser team." BengalByTheBay
Maybe I'm just a simpleton, but I think everything boils down to how we play our division. Yes, there are some possible tie-breaker scenarios, but more often than not it just seems to come down to how we step up when we need to. After all, it's not like we're picking and choosing who to lose to anyway. As such, right now we're where we need to be having beaten Cle on the road (who is turning out to be much more solid than anybody had a reason to expect). I'm just about to put a fork in the Ravens and, as it always seems to, it's time to beat the friggin squeelers.
