combatbengal Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 Man, what a game. We are now 3-0! The only thing that I see that we really need to work on is our penalty issue. That is going to come back and bite us in the @$$. Def is looking great. Off is looking good! Kicking game is on! If we can fix the penalty problem, we're going to be unstoppable!! Quote
AMC Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 Even Marvin said he could not fault the penalties last week because he liked the aggressiveness....BUT, how long can you keep making false starts and PFs and they NOT affect you? Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 BUT, how long can you keep making false starts and PFs and they NOT affect you?How about as long as you're leading every game you're in from start to finish. As long as their winning like they are...I don't care. A non-issue. Quote
rizzy Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 THANK YOU BILLY!!!!!!!! I have said this after every game. IT DOES NOT MATTER!?! A win is a win and we have three of them. If we have 500 hundred penalties and still play better than the other team and win, the penalities matter not. I have said this after each game this year. STOP COMPLAINING PEOPLE!!!!! Who cares about turnovers, running game or mistakes, NOBODY, as long as we get that win beside our name. Quote

Columbusbengal Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 < The only thing that I see that we really need to work on is our penalty issue. >I agree with Marvin. He said there are different types of penalties. He doesn't seem to mind the ones caused by excitement and intensity (e.g. false starts). He doesn't like delay of games, personal fouls, and illegal formations. Quote

Lita Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 It won't be a non issue when we play a team that doesn't give games away, though, don't you think? We've gotten 12 interceptions in 3 games, that's a lot, almost a record, right? Are we really that good..?I agree, so many penalties will hurt us when we play a competitive game. Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 There are different types of penalities. And it's important when the penalties happen during the game. The real gauge of a penalty is really how it affected the game. Was it a penalty that happened on 3rd down that gave the opposition a first down and helped them keep going? Was it a stupid penalty like a personal foul? Was the game close at the time? An offsides late in a tied game is much worse than an offsides late in a blowout game. So, in short, I'd only be concerned with the "stupid" penalities, the penalties that you should never see in a game, no matter the situation. Sure, it's something to work on just like the offense and defense and special teams, but not really that big of an issue. Quote

Their fans will actually cheer a late hit .... / .... personal foul. Now I'm not advocating that sort of mentality for the Bengals ... and I doubt that the coach would put up with it anyway ..... but if you look back to last year I thnk you'll all agree that there could be bigger problems we'd be talking about.Next week if we get 20 penalties and win the game .......... we're 4 and 0 and I'm lovin it. One question though...which of these teams we've beaten so far just "gave" us the game? I don't think and gave us anything as much as we just stepped up, bitch-slapped them, and took it from them!
