turningpoint
I know we'll be at home week 4,but i just don't like the idea of houston coming off a bye week to face us, that means they have 2 weeks of gameplaning and on top of that are desperate for a win after losing their 1st 2 games. Could prove to be a much tough game then most will think.
bengalindian
It does cause a little concern in that they will be able to work out their problems, and it seems like they are having plenty. But, I'm not too worried. I think this team is where the Bengals were last year, and that they need to fix a lot of things to get close to going for the playoffs. So hopefully, they don't cause too much trouble. Plus, no team is going to win in the Jungle this year. Except maybe the Colts.
Humanzee 5000
That proves that even as bengals fans, it's going to be harder to get over bengaldom than we think. I'm optimistic after being on hand to watch the crushing yesterday. I think this really could be the beginning of Football coming home to Ohio BIG TIME. Relax man, we're rolling and sportscasters everywhere have said that right now we look unstoppaale!
Columbusbengal
that means they have 2 weeks of gameplaning As Marvin says, it's one thing to have a great plan - it's another to have the players who can execute it. I am not sure the Texans have those players.

We are so used to being the underdog, we are used to being the team that fears everyone and now its everyone that fears us. 8-0 rumble in the jungle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bring on s**tsburgh
derekshank
C'mon guys... Houston is a mess. They are in panic mode. They fired their offensive coordinator after week 2! Not to mention that their new O Coordinator is their offensive line coach... the very same offensive line that has allowed something like 9 sacks in two games. Yes, they have 2 weeks to prepare for us... but does anyone think that they can match the level of play we have shown? Especially on our home field?P.S. We have a bye week before the Colts game, and it's at home. Who do you think should be more worried? The Bengals about the Texans, or the Colts about the Bengals? The answer is implicit in the rest of my post.
bengalsLB
were easily gonna s**t stomp houston... i feel a litte worried about david carrs health if we bliyz thurman or madieu
buck3y3d
Especially with a new offensive coordinator, implemented today. I agree, this team is a disaster right now. The Bengals could overlook the game, but with a home crowd, i think we roll. (This is probably the most cofidence i have for a home game outside of Green Bay)
Geep
I'm sure that this has been said many times, many ways, but this team looks like it has turned a corner. While any team can win any given Sunday, I am no longer as concerned about them being "on" or "up" for these games. They can win them and they know they can win them. There's something to that. When it comes time to beat the Texans the Bengals will focus and take care of business. Let the Texans gameplan for a couple of weeks. I trust that the Bengals will have an answer and be able to get to Carr and stop Davis.
Bobcat Bengal
Eh.Never lost to them before, why start now.I'm not being cocky or anything....I just don't think they're in a position to threaten us, considering all the circumstances.I just saw that we're playing them @ home.Have we EVER played them at Reliant Stadium? I honestly can't remember the Bengals ever playing them there.

Not to mention that their new O Coordinator is their offensive line coach... the very same offensive line that has allowed something like 9 sacks in two games. Hmmmm.....who else do we play that fired their offensive coordinator and put the play calling in the hands of their line coach???? Oh yeah, that's right, THE FREAKING VIKINGS!! I gotcha on the "any given Sunday" deal and I hope we don't come out flat for that game, but this concern is right above "make sure we have enough extra shoelaces" in my book. The Bengals win this game. (And I'm not that sure about the Bears, so I'm not just homering here.)
bengalindian
I think they played in Houston in '02. Wasn't that one of their 2 wins that year?
San Antonio Bengal
I hate to discuss the game that's going to be in two weeks rather than the one this coming Sunday, but I will say that the Texans have imploded. As I'm sure a lot of you have heard, Chris Palmer, the Texans offensive coordinator was fired and replaced by Joe Pendry, who coached their centers and guards. Pendry has been an OC before with the Chiefs and with the Panthers under Capers. Capers is on the hot seat in Houston, and a move like this during the middle of the season is just Capers trying to save his own butt. Anyway, I don't know how different the offense will be in two weeks. First, that's not enough time to prepare for a game and learn a new system. Further, the problems aren't really the OC's fault. The offensive line has been completely unable to protect Carr nor give any time for a rthymn to develop. There are guys on the Texans with a good amount of talent, but none of them are on the O-line. You can fire coaches all you want, but until the O-line improves, there's not going to be much change. The other weird thing about the move of Pendry, is that he coached the centers and guards while another coach worked with the offensive tackles. Now the other coach gets to coach the entire O-line.Anyway, with all of these changes taking place, I don't see this as a traditional bye week, where a team can focus on some of things needing work and work towards being really prepared for their next game. Both Pittsburgh and Buffalo dominated the weak Texans O-line and have recorded a lot of sacks and hurries and never allowed the running game to develop. Cincinnati should do the same. If our D-line controls their O-line, neither changing coordinaters or having a bye week will change the outcome of the game -- a Bengals victory.I haven't even mentioned the Texans D and the work that needs to be done there, but with our offense, I see us putting up points early and the Texans trying to play catch-up. Davis is a good back, but if his O-line doesn't give him time or make the holes for him, I can imagine our defense doing a good enough job for the Texans to abandon the run and go pass wacky a la Cleveland and Minny. And on top of all this, the game is in Cincy. It's gonna be a long day for the Texans. Anyway, let's get through the Bears game first -- they aren't going to be pushovers.WHO DEY

I was at the game yesterday also, but the NFL has lots of parody, and after rooting for the bengals for 10+ years and seeing us beating up teams with great records. In games looking like we'd never have chance pulling out wins.
San Antonio Bengal
the NFL has lots of parodyI think you wanted "parity" instead, but "parody" really describes certain parts of the NFL pretty well. :lol:parody, n1. literary or artistic work that imitates the characteristic style of an author or a work for comic effect or ridicule.2. something so bad as to be equivalent to intentional mockery; a travesty parity, n1. equality, as in amount, status, or value.2. functional equivalence
Stripes
I'll be very surprised if our Bengals don't clobber both the Bears and Texans. These are bad football teams, home or away. We have no excuse to lose either game.

Chad guarenteed a victory and the Bengals won 38-3. They also won in Cincy in 2003.
San Antonio Bengal
In the all time series with Houston, the Bengals lead 2-02002 Bengals, 38-3 (at Houston)2003 Bengals, 34-27 (at Cincinnati)
