cHaD711Johnson
Bright Spots1.Offense as a whole-Chad, Rudi, CP, Housh they all looked good and everything was clicking.Pre-season means NOTHING!2.Odell Thurman-Seems like he's around the ball every play, led the team in tackles. Maybe this year's ROY.........3. Tab Perry-Nice Return for 50 ydsWeak Spots1. Corners-We made Antonio Bryant look better than he is IMO..He routinely burned Tory James..2.Run Defense-Droughns may not have broke 100 yards but he averaged 6 yards per carry.. andybren
1. Good to see Kevin Walter get some meaningful looks. Don't think KDub would've scored on that 20 yard TD pass.2. Good to see the offense not missing a beat when Chad went down.3. Defense held up pretty well, though the bend-don't-break philosophy is going to give me a heart attack.4. Odell did well, but that TD he gave up could've been a back-breaker against a better team. Let's all keep in mind that this was only the Browns.5. Carson looked good. Managed the drives well (especially the one before the half) and didn't have any HUGE mistakes. I for one don't want to depend on him to be a stud. Just get the job done.6. Love to see the grinding ground attack in the fourth quarter. It's like Red Auerbach lighting up his cigar.7. The Vikings look much more beatable than they did a few days ago. CBin2k7
You can't blame the CB's for the fact that Bryant was always open. The pass rush was virtually non-existent and therefore, Dilfer had a lot of time to work with. CB's were in position to make some plays and made those, and missed others. shatan
2. Good to see the offense not missing a beat when Chad went down. that was probably one of the biggest pluses out of the whole deal. although i figured with all of their weapons they would continue buisiness as planned, it was nice to know we have solid depth at rec. aint no stopping our "o" this year. i heard on the pre-game show (even the elite NFL media) admit that when it is all said and done, the bengals could have the best offence in the entire NFLWHO-DEY
Stripes
Positives:-Carson Palmer playing like the end of last season-Rudi showng some excellent power, as expected-Kevin Walter making an impact-Shayne's kickoffs (don't know if that will last)-Converting on third down-Stopping the run, except the very first play-Keiwan getting his first interception (I called that one!)-Larson punting well-Odell Thurman getting his rookie of the year wishes off to a flying startNegatives:-Absolutely no pass rush from the front four-Giving up third down conversions-Early defensive mistakes (to be expected)Overall:Hell F**king yes. andybren
Negatives:-Absolutely no pass rush from the front fourZERO sacks. But I seem to remember Justin getting after Dilfer a few times. The old man was quicker than I expected.
kingwilly
Positives:Defense: Only one big lapse on the long TD pass to Fishhead(sic?) but otherwise good spped, smart play and nice takeaways. We dropped 3 other INT's but oh well.Odell, Pollack, Ratliff and Madieu looked excellent and are the reason we won, IMHO.Run Offense: Good scheme to keep running. Takes no big genius to run when its 27-10 but Brat has been known to F it up before. Rudi had the legs and kept moving the chains and the clock.Larsen: Nice job punting vs preseason effort. Was a worry I had but seemed good.WR but also C. Perry/Walter - stepped up and made some good plays. Walter just earned additional snaps in my book, real solid plays. Perry was ok, just seemed to lack a little confidence but that will come.Negatives:Pass Rush was weak. A better QB could have spelled trouble.Palmer made a few gross/scary errors, but bounced back and otherwise shined.

He took advantage of the extra snaps he got this week (Henry being out, Washington dinged) to make some plays against real NFL players and not backups. I certainly like the extra depth. In addition, Justin Smith looked pretty decent to me, Odell looked like a monster and Madieu played real solid. Perry needs to learn to use his blocks better. I'm concerned about Tory James though, didn't look anything close to last year.
cincykent
Four out of our next five opponents lost today. We could be 4 and 0 going into the ESPN Sunday night game. Pittsburgh still looks awesome.
eclipse99t
Pittsburgh still looks awesome.Everyone on ESPNs already raving about how Roethlisberger played. Newsflash! Since when does Tennessee have a defense? And Ben only tossed 11 balls. Let him try to throw more than 15 passes and win some games and we'll see how he does. If I'm a QB, and my running game drops over 200 yards, throwing will be pretty easy. If I also only have to throw 11 times, when there are probably 9 in the box every play, I'd better look great.I'll be impressed with Rothliesberger when he has to repeatedly bail his team out. Maybe when he throws 35+ times a game.
San Antonio Bengal
Let's see what Ben can when the Pittsburgh running game isn't so dominate and he has to rely on the pass to win... It seems to be a little easier to throw the ball when you're up by a few TDs.
schweinhart
Bright spots1. Bobbie Williams was crushing people. The whole O-line played well enough for the Bengals to win 56-3. Levi was gimpy at the end, though.2. Pollack and Thurman. Damn And they'll get better each game.3. Tab Perry. Dude is gonna get his share of 30 to 50 yd KRs. It looked like Darrin Simmons reamed him out the KR before the one he broke and I'm guessing that was about him not folliwng the bone crushing blcoks that Kenny Watson was delivering. When he did that, he broke it. Perry has got some serious speed for as big as he is.Weaknesses1. They played the Clowns, who are more than likely the worst team in the NFL. Hard to get too excited about the specifics of what happened other than the 1-0 start on the road in a division game. :player:
