walshfan
I don't know about you guys but Im as pumped up as ever with the games coming up both in college and pro....Starting with the game tonight....New England vs Oakland...Tom Brady and Co. vs the revamped offense of the Raiders... should be a great game... Will losing Bruschi and Ted Johnson mean they're defense isn't in the top ten anymore?Losing both co-ordinators has to hurt but Bellichek basically ran the offense the latter part of last season when Weiss was ill anyway.. Losing Romeo Crenel along with the linebackers and Law may be a different story.. Moss and company will test them early...I still like New England in this one 27-24 though.. Brady finds ways to win......Ohio State vs Texas.....I love the buckeyes ..I don't have confidence in their offense....Im not high on Zwick or Smith and if all we have is Pittman this year at running back I don't see us beating a team with the defense that Texas will come in with.. Our defense is top notch as well but I think the Horns will pull this one outTexas 20 Ohio St 10Michigan vs Notre Dame......Michigan has an offense that compares to S.Cal but the defensive front 7 are not making the plays ...I think this is one of their worst defenses in years....Notre Dame is solid on both sides...Weisss will figure out how to beat the wolverines..Notre Dame 34 Michigan 31Cincinnati vs Cleveland....In the Dawgpound! season opener in the division on the road.. mercy! Cleveland will not lay down in front of their fans so expect a hard hitting contest...The problem is that Cincinnati is basically better in every phase of the game than Cleveland right now....Lots of pressure from Cincy's DE's will make Dilfer hurry and throw ints... Palmer and Rudi will have good games and the Bengals will win a hard fought gameCincinnati 24 Cleveland 20.....Could you ask for a better weekend of football than this?????BTW you may not be tennis fans but if Andre Aggasi gets to the finals at the U.S. Open on Sunday against the world's number one player, Roger Federer, it should be a great match... Federer taking the match 6-3 6-4 6-7 6-4...and thats about the best anyone can expect when they play Roger right now.....

I have been giddy about this weekend since the Ohio State schedule came out 3 years ago for this season. The second best game of the year (Ohio State/Michigan always is the game of the year) with Ohio State meeting Texas for the first time ever and both having National Title hopes riding on it. Who could ask for more! However, I disagree with the assessment about the Bucks Offense. Zwick has shown dramatic improvement and Smith can run rings around a defense. Look for Young to be bottled up by that tremendous Buckeye defense. But I do agree with you about what to expect with the Bengals and Browns. The Browns have a QB that is a journeyman at best that will only manage the game, while the Bengals can score at will and have a QB that can win a game on his own if needed. Although I don't think it will be as close as you predict. The Bengals by 2 TD's. And then in conjunction with the opening of the NFL season. It is a great time to be a football fan. I have butterflies just thinking about it!!! WOOO HOOO!!!! GO BUCKS!!!! GO CINCY!!!
buck3y3d
I too would have to agree with you guys. I am almost giddy about this weekend, and have been waiting since January for these days. Sadly, i have to work saturday morning (which is a real bummer after a week of school), but we'll have all of Saturday night and Sunday to feast in football glory.By the way, as OSU has never lost a night game, and the D looks like the 2002 team, i figure a sweep for this weekend. ND 35 Michigan 28OSU 17 Texas 10Bengals 31 Browns
Stripes
I'll say it'll be:Michigan 34, Notre Dame 24Ohio State 20, Texas 17Bengals 24, Browns
ArmyBengal
This is the type of weekend football dreams are made of... Now if only the Bengals, Buckeyes, and Notre Dame can win, all my dreams will come true !!!I'll settle for only 1 of 3 in a Bengals lopsided win, but am hoping for the trifecta !!!WHODEY !!! walshfan
Well I found out that the Pats can survive without Bruschi and Johnson..They bascially played a 4-3 defense and looked good doing it...this team just knows how to win..Brady is very collected..reminds me of Montana... derekshank
I'm pretty nervous about this weekend too. I have a different take on the Buckeye's game as well. Firstly, Texas' coaching routinely losses big games. Ohio State never loses big games. Tressel is 3-1 against Michigan, and never loses is at home. Ohio State has never lost a home game at night... ever.We have the best receivers in college football... Smith is nearly as elusive as Vince Young... and everyone agrees he is more accurate. Ohio State has one of the best group of LB's in the country, and a very good line. All of that said though... you can go one for one against every group. OSU may have much better recievers, Texas has better DB's... and so on.So when it comes right down to it, this game will be won in the trenches. Both of these teams have strength in their lines. Whoever wins the battles between the linemen will win this game. I think we have superior coaching, and it's a home game, so if we lose, we have no excuses... but I think it will come down to a field goal. Where's Nugent?!!Bengals game... I'm driving an hour away from my house just to get to a sport's bar that will be showing the game. I gotta see the opener! Big BIG weekend! I'm am... What did Warrick used to say... "Crunked"?
