Quincy Wilson over Kenny Watson

MARVIN=W'S

I was just thinking last night as I sat in my seat and watched Quincy Wilson run, why not keep him over Kenny Watson? I know Watson is a Marvin guy and a former Redskin when ML was there. I think however that Quincy Wilson is the kind of guy that can carry the load if he had to. It almost reminds me of back when Rudi was behind Corey Dillon and Brandon Bennett. BB was CD's #1 backup but they always said if CD went down Rudi would be the man not BB. I just think since he's alot younger than Watson and has the potential, you keep him over Watson. Plus as we all know Chris Perry is going to be our third down/ pass catching RB, Watsons roll last year. Watson seems like a good team guy but I say he's gone.

I think it may come down to who's eligible for the practice squad in some of these cases. Since the practice squad is expanded to 8 players this year I think it will be more of a factor.

Watson is more likely to help the Bengals win early this season, so he stays. Wilson is eligible for the practice squad (I think) so he's waived and re-signed to the squad.

There is no way that Wilson will clear waivers. Since our own team has seen how well he can run and is willing to keep him over a proven backup in Watson, that means a needing team right now for a backup running back would be gladly to pick him up. Also thinking in the way the bengals always do I am sure that Wilson is not making as much money as Watson is, so if I had to pick one that the Bengals are going to keep on the roster it has got to be Wilson.

I think Watson stays. He has proven that he can be an everyday all around RB. He did it when he was in Washington. He can fill in for both RUDI and PERRY and do adequately, I am not sure that Wilson could fill PERRY's spot if needed.

Yup.

Plus, he can KR, which is an added bonus over Wilson.

Don't get me wrong, I was impressed with Q, but Kenny bailed us out more than a few times last year when the bullets were live.

Yall musta forgot. <_<

I'm glad I'm not Marvin Lewis or Mike Brown right now. Tough call. However, we will be fine with whichever one we keep. Rudi Johnson and Chris Perry combine for 4 downs worth of backs. The other guy is a benchwarmer for the most part. For that reason alone, I think Wilson gets cut (though I like him a lot) and Watson stays. At least Watson returns kicks.

It depends if you want a Rudi-Type-RB or a Perry-Type-RB as your back up.

Either guy would be nice to have but I think that Watson's ST play gives him the edge.

It will foolish to cut Watson and keep Wilson.

Wilson should clear waivers easily because there's a dozen others just like him. He's no where close to Watson as a runner, receiver, or blocker. He's just cheaper and the Bengals will get what they pay for if they cut Watson over Wilson.

Perry has showed skills as a 3rd down back but I'd still be surprised not to see Watson exclusively as the 3rd down back next week for play calls that require blitz pickups because Watson kills LBs when they blitz.

Perry's got better acceleration off the screen and runs routes almost as well as Watson, so it seems more likely to see both at different times when they split the back wide for 4 or 5 receiver sets. Draw play is proly the biggest advantage Perry has over Watson because of his acceleration in open field. But Watson's one cut and up running style is better between the tackles than Perry's skips and hops in traffic because he takes too long to get upfield and lets the LBs catch up.

I would say Watson is the 3rd down back vs. 3-4 defenses for these reasons and Perry will play more vs. 4-3.

Besides Perry's running style makes him vulnerable to injury.

Do you really want to rely on Quincy Wilson when you're making a playoff run? Or rely on him to be the primary ball carrier and a blitz blocker if both Rudi and Perry have to sit?

I don't.
