Spain Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Ohalete, is an eight in the box safety who specialize against the run. He is definanetly going in on running downs. KK juast cant handle it! Look for a solution to this and the JT situation next year I hope! Quote
membengal Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Just got done watching the game, and other than enjoying the Bengals doing what they are supposed to against a team that is not really trying, three hits stood out:1. Odell Thurman's forcing the fumble on the Colts FB. My god. My. god. Dude was up and dude was down and ball was flying. Unreal. Gave me chills. Ran it frame by frame as slow as I could on Tivo, just a good time.2. Ohalete on Sorgi. Blew him up. Impressive way to deliver a hit when you get a chance.3. Someone help me out here, I slowed this down as much as I could and I think it was Ohalete, but it was on the Stevens return for a TD. Around the 20 yard line, some Colt is about to catch Stevens off of having a better angle, and a blur for the Bengals enters the screen and blows him the eff up. Just decapitates him. Pretty sure it was #26 when I slowed it down which would be Ohalete. So nice to see some Bengals delivering those kind of blows for a change. Add in Madieu's earlier in the game, and I feel better about the start of the regular season. Quote

derekshank Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Okay, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the saftey position is primarily a pass defense position, is it not? Sure, I mean if they can come up and stop a runner for no gain from time to time, then by all means stick 'em! Just as a lineman might tip a pass at the line of scrimmage to himself for an interception, the opportunity shouldn't be passed, but I don't want my safeties being depended on for stopping the run. Last time I checked that was the down linemans and linebackers jobs, and if it now fallen to the last line of defenders, which is really what the "saftey" is all about, then somebody is f**kin' up BIG TIME up in front of him!Sounds to me the reason they're getting beat deep is because they're cheating up towards the line playing the run first instead of playing their position! Dammit! If we wanted you to play (deep) linebacker, we'd call it that, give you a different set of pads, and have you put on another 25 pounds! Play your position. Isn't that what our "Defensive Guru" head coach Marvin Lewis always saying? DO YOUR JOB! Agreed. If the SS doesn't have coverage skills, why not just put Pollack in there and play a 4-4? I think having Simmons, Thurman, L. Johnson, and Pollack out there would be pretty good for stopping the run. But that is a really bad idea, because of the huge passing plays that will be given up. An in-the-box SS is not what we need. Quote
