I will say I'm not unhppy with them as a trio. They perform well as a whole, and I'd take them over a bunch of TE corps aound the league. I think Schobel is the weak link, but I do hope he has a big year in this offense. Nothing would please me more than to have him make me eat my words with a few touchdowns.

You're way too hard on Schobel. The guy has undeniable ability and has made big plays. And it does often take a guy several years to become proficient at a new position, especially a skill position.

So, are you saying Schobel wasn't a freakin tight end during his college career and thus should be considered a project guy instead of a real tight end?

He makes 1 big play per game, MAX. He MISSES 1 EASY play per quarter, minimum.

Schobel was converted to a tight end during his career at TCU and had little experience when he was drafted. No, he should not be considered a "project"; he has had three years to establish himself in the NFL. The time has come for him to make good on his promise. At any rate, he is the best receiving tight end they have, and he is better than any cast-off that might show up on the waiver wire.

Thanks for confirming what I said. He was drafted as a TIGHT END. He had experience when he was drafted. He shouldn't be dropping all the passes he does when it's 3rd down.

The Bengals' receiving corps is deep and talented. However, I think Chris Henry could turn out to be the best of the lot.

I like it!

You guys don't know me yet, but you'll quickly learn I'm a huge Chris Henry fan! I used to live in WVa and still have family there who are huge WVU fans. They've been saying for a couple years that Henry is "the next Randy Moss". They aren't Bengal fans but they know I am, so the day we drafted Chris Henry I had family members calling me and saying we got the "steal of the draft". Yes he had some issues in college, but it was just maturity issues, not off the field trouble or classroom problems. He's a good kid who has a world of talent, and he's going to be a star in Cincinnati for years to come. It's just a matter of time. And the fact that he has a coach like Marvin Lewis to mold him and a player like Chad Johnson to mentor him just makes it more certain.

WHO DEY!

Chad Johnson had more drops than Schobel last season. Marvin has gone on record that Schobel is one of the most improved players this preseason and that bears out on tape. In fact, he has been one of the few bright spots blocking on the OL this preseason.

That's all well and good. Lets hope that success translates into the regular season, and on a consistent basis. Despite Schobel's excellent preseason, I'd still put my money on Reggie Kelley out of the three. If Schobel has learned how to block, then he may be in for a big season. He'd eat up playtime from the other two, opening more opportunities for him to catch balls. Let's hope one of them gets it done. I have faith!

There is a lot of truth to that but I still would really loved to have a TE who can block AND catch.
