DC_Bengals_Fan
I like most of you said 49ers, but it easily could be Da Bears. Rookie QB, no real weapons (with any real experience). Could be a long season in Chi-Town. Thank the football Gods the Bengals play them this year!Which Bears are you talking about? The Bad News Bears? Because the Chicago Bears have weapons with experience. They just lake a veteran QB. Muhsin Muhammad is a vet with experience. He has 10 years experience, and the last three years he has succeeded in doing better than Pdub ever did in each of them. In fact, he's had at least 800 yards in every season he wasn't injured. He's one hell of a weapon at WR, if Orten can get him the ball. He had 16 touchdowns last year. How many did Chad and TJ combine for? That's right, 13 boys and girls.Thomas Jones is a vet with experience at running back too. He had almost 1000 yards last seaon in a season cut short at just 14 games played. He still averaged 4.0 yards per carry and had 7 TDs. In other words, his yards per carry was the same as our own Rudi Johnson. They now have a double headed pounding pair with Benson in the backfield as well. Cincinnati's son, Marc Edwards at fullback is a pass catching threat and a good blocking back. But that's not why the Bengals should be worried about the Bears. This is.Adwewale Ogunleye|Tommie Harris|Ian Scott(or anyone else)|Alex BrownLance Briggs|Brian Urlacher|Hunter HillenmeyerThat front 7 is dangerous. It gets worse....Nathan Vasher|Michael Green|Mike Brown|Jerry AzumahThis defense is going to give other teams a long season....I don't care how good their receivers are, they'll have a rookie QB with no experience throwing to them who looked bad his senior year in college. Also, regarding Mushin's numbers - he ain't doing that again, and he's getting oooold. So overall, I'd rate their passing game as a bit worse overall.Thomas Jones is pretty good. Chances are, Benson won't be as good as Jones was last year. If anything, Benson taking snaps away from Jones weakens their running game a bit. Slight downgrade.Their defense is good. If it stays healthy. Slight upgrade based on health.Overall, I'd say the Bears are about as good as last year *if* they keep everyone healthy on defense. Since they went 5-11, 'about the same' is still bad.Of the teams about that bad last year, I'd say most improved more than CHI. Miami will have a running game of some kind - better than Travis Minor or whoeverthehell they were running. TB will have a real RB, although age on defense might keep hurting them. Oakland added a ton of offense. Arizona and Detroit figure to get better through sheer number of offensive weapons. Tenn will have more offense with Chow's schemes, particularly if McNair stays healthy. The Redskins have a better passing game, and as good a defense. Dallas should be better as well, with a solid defense, great running game, and a QB with experience if nothing else. Inevitably, some team will be surprisingly bad, but I'd almost guarantee the bears not doing better than 6-10 simply because they have no passing game at all. Most of the other teams have at least a chance to do better.I'll grant they're better than San Fran and the Browns, but I don't see them as being any better than that next tier. Their main problem is that the used the draft to get a guy at the one position they're fairly solid at. But then, they had no idea Grossman was the unluckiest person on the face of the earth. cHaD711Johnson
I guarantee we win a game in the division. Guarantee that it's not vs. Cincy
redsbengalsbucks
there is no way San Fran does better than us. I have to agree with you on this one who. I think the Browns may be on track to be contenders in a couple of years, maybe even next season if they can find a better QB than Dilfer. I'd say at least 4-5 wins this year and there is no way SF is getting 5 wins even in their weak division.

Not trying to be a homer, but I don't think we lose to Cleveland this year. The opener should be a win, with the entire offseason being devoted to starting fast. We just match up well against the Browns. The home game later should be a win as well for obvious reasons.I expect Cleveland to steal one from either the Ravens or Steelers, and quite possibly both of them. Make it so. They will be fine at QB after Frye takes a year to learn under Dilfer, who isn't as bad as everybody makes him out to be.

The Browns appear to be making progress, at least as much as possible for a 4-12 football team. I think the Steelers are in the middle of a hot spell; I'm skeptical they'll have long term success. Then again, who am I to make that prediction? I think Baltimore is on the decline, so maybe someday, if Crennel and Marvin both get where they expect to go, the perrenial bottom feeders will get a turn to rule the division? kingwilly
I think the 49er's will assume the role of the suckiest for the next few years.
