HoosierCat Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I voted maybe. The bottom line is that it's up to the players. They have a choice. They can quit making excuses, get to work, and fix the problems. In which case, this team could go far. Super Bowl? That's a stretch, but some postseason play isn't.Or they can keep shinin' it on and wait for "things to click," etc. In which case -- IMHO -- they most likely stumble early (again) and end up somewhere around .500.Their call. derekshank Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I'm somewhere in between maybe and probably not, because I really do see both sides. On the one hand, we haven't proven we can do anything. We haven't done better than .500 in a decade and a half, and continue to have big questions on defense... even before the debacle against Philly. The offensive fire power alone isn't enough to get us past the powers in the AFC.On the other side of the coin, we only won 2 games the year before Marvin Lewis, and were only a game away from the playoffs the very next year. Last year we took a step back with a rookie QB, who should likey continue improving. Now with a new defensive coordinator that has had success in the past, not to mention Marvin Lewis' resume when it comes to defense... you can't discount a team based on previous records. The Chargers were legitimate competition last year, and two years ago, the Panthers went to the superbowl after being 7-9. You just never know... so the Maybe option won me over, just because anything is possible... but on most days my brain tells me... probably not. Quote
ackley1 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 i say probably not but i'll be happy if we make the wild card. i mean it's been 15 years so the wild card would be like the super bowl to me. Quote
