TippCityRick,

Your brought up a good point about the touchdown catch he had against Carlos Rogers.... The kid had just run a long route with TJ and the Bengals came right back at him with a fresh receiver ( KDub)... smart play on Brat's part.. hope they use that during the season!!

Your right though... He outran a kid of was a bit gassed...outside of that his totals arent impressive and he HAS dropped a TD if Im correct....

Look Im all for KDub stepping up and being that other deep threat..Im waiting for it to materialize....

See to me, I wouldnt take anything from that catch. No matter who was guarding him, that throw was perfect, and Washington made a great grab. Actually from what Ive seen, hes been doing that all preseason.

In spring ball, he looked very sharp on the videos (Bengals.com). And during the open house, he was ohhhhing and ahhhing the crowd. Im not a big Washington fan, but so far this preseason, I think he has a lot to offer.

Actually from what I heard, that was an audible at the line by Palmer. And that's very encouraging, Palmer making smart reads and all.

My Player reviews:

Warrick

Upside: (WHEN HEALTHY) quick, hard to tackle in open field, good hands, good blocker, team guy, can return kicks.

Downside: Costly, durability at question, does not break big plays, disappears outside the slot.

Washington:

Upside: Good size, speed, average hands, good elevation on jump balls, cheap.

Downside: Not precise in routes, no special teams contribution, no appreciable YAC.

Overall: Washington. Have to go with the health and potential. P-Dub's durability is in serious doubt and his $ does not make sense vs the risk, especially with the O-line needing to be secured. Washington has good abilities and will do well backing up CJ and TJ. If he can learn to block he really would do alot for the team.

IMHO (and I believe in both your's and Joisey's), Walter makes this team on ST.

Yeah, at this point I have Walter pencilled in as the 6th wideout (with Tab Perry going to the PS). I admit I hadn't thought of the gunner issue, but yeah, it bolsters his case.

You both have more confidence in KWash than I do.

I wouldn't say that. I think Kwash has had a good camp and preseason -- but it's just camp and preseason. If he went out there Sept. 11 in Cleveland and reverted to his old self (rounding off routes, etc.) it wouldn't surprise me a bit. Like I said earlier, he remains a question mark and IMHO anyone taking it for granted that he'll break out this year is whistling past the proverbial graveyard.

Exactly, there's nothing to take from that catch to buffer Washington. It was a perfect throw and all KW had to do was run under it. He didn't even have to beat coverage cuz the corner was exhasted.

And again you make my point regarding the videos and such. KWash looks great in shorts and has all the potential in the world, but come Sunday afternoon (or Friday night in this case) he does nothing beyond what he's supposed to do. I'd like to see some "playmaking" tomorrow night.

See thats where we differ, you and I. To me, he didnt just "run under it". That took some great speed, hands, and concentration to make that grab. He was at a dead sprint, and caught that pass with his fingertips. To me, that was playmaking.

to each his won but to let Walter go and keep an inconsistent receiver ( Washington) and a player that's probably seen his better days ( Warrick ) would be insane....are you insane Hair on Fire? Are they coming to take you away aha?

what the hell has walter done besides have a few good PRESEASON games?

washington may have been a letdown thus far but i think he will contribute a lot this year.

warrick's a gamebreaker if he's healthy.

If this, if that...

The truth is that Warrick IS NOT healthy, and Kelley HAS BEEN a disapointment.

Walter HAS HAD a few preseason games, and that is what preseason is all about to show what you can do. Now what makes you think he can't have a few (or 16) good games this season?

Seems like half this board is trying to throw Washington under the bus, and the other half Warrick. Is there anyone who's dogging them both? We do need a 3rd receiver - who is it?

We'll have to just agree to disagree on that one.

Yes, we need one. Good question who it is at this point.

Washington. Chad's 1, TJ is 2, Squirrel is 3.

It isn't Warrick who need concern Kwash, it's Henry. If Kwash reverts come the regular season, Henry is the guy on deck to replace him.

Warrick's value -- assuming he is healthy -- is insurance against an injury to Chad or TJ.

After watching that play again, it does seem that it was a better throw than a catch. On that, you were correct. However, it still doesnt take away from how he has played this past preseason. Other than that dropped pass in the bread basket, he has played well IMO. Touche on that play though.. :bows:

i think the bengals are not making a decision yet, because i think the one that's cut (warrick prob) is going to end up in pissburgh, and the bengals don't want it to be the warrick of old that does.

Well it's not me. My first reaction has always been to throw Walters under the bus.

As for K-Dub, you'll never hear me claim that Washington is a perfect football player but IMHO he's not battling for the 6th WR spot, and neither is Warrick if he's healthy. But there's the rub because if Warrick is healthy then I think Walters is battling for that last spot, as is Tab Perry, and a host of others.

I can still see Peter making the TD against the undefeated CHIEFS last year so im sticking with PETER he still got it!!!!! :)

I can speak only for myself, but yeah....I agree. I have far more confidence in K-Dub than most seem to. He's a monster red zone target and his size allows him to control short areas even when he isn't open. In fact, I actually liked that little two yard catch he made against the Redskins with defenders draped all over him. Making the catch on the bomb didn't hurt either. TJ dropped the same ball, but he's a roster lock, right? And make light of that play all you want, but K-Dub made that catch against a high 1st round pick who already had an interception in his pocket. Exactly who is Walters working against? (Guys who couldn't play dead in a western.)

I really don't see why the Bengals can't keep 7 WRs when their safeties suck as bad as they seem to.

Then they could keep:

1. Chad

2. Housh

3. K-Dub

4. Henry

5. P-Dub

6. Walter

7. Perry or Broussard

And have enough CBs who can go safety by keeping just 9 DBs:

1. Madieu

2. O'Neal

3. James

4. Keiwan

5. Herring

6. Myles

7. Roberts

8. Mitchell

9. Williams, Body, Bauman, or Indiana Jones.

I'm mean, for real, some of those WRs could proly play either safety spot as well as any of the safeties back there now except fro Madieu and maybe K2.
