Jerk-Free Locker Room

The Big Orange

On the latest bengals.com video interview with ML, a reporter asks Marvin how he is enjoying having a jerk-free locker room now that Dillon is gone. I thought this was one of the better questions I've heard in our press room in a long time...finally, a question that I am interested in the answer.

Marvin laughed and diplomatically said that it was nice when you have 74 guys on a roster that you have all 74 show up...the same with practice.

Which makes me wander, who is the biggest jerk currently on our team? Justin Smith, maybe...i don't know...maybe Duane Clemmons

Tough call. Probably Clemons, but even he didn't seem to pout much at losing his starting spot. He just doesn't care as much as he should. The vote could go to Perry even, but for no reason other than the problems he had at Michigan when he didn't get the ball. Rudi may make the list, because of his anti-franchise tender incident. Someone with a bit more initiative than I should open a poll for this question.

Really? I don't think there are any jerks. They may not be the friendliest of people, but the Bengals don't have any players that are Dillon, or T.O. style jerks and players that are full of themselves and can't accept their role on their respective teams. That's what I think Marvin meant, and that's why I love him.

OK yoda...which reminds me. We had some comedians come to campus the other night to kick off the year for the freshman, but we ended up going...worth it.

Anyway, one of the comedians was talking about how he wished he could be like Yoda, so that when he was having sex, he could freak girls out by talking like him.

"Like it like that, do you?" and

"Come all of your face, Yoda will"

It was hilarious cuz it sounded just like him. As far as this relating to this topic or football in general, it doesn't, just thought I'd share.

i don't think there are any jerks, in the respect that every player on the team wants to be part of the team and has a team-first attitude. they all seem to be buying into marvin football.

i know a lot of people are going to bury me down but:

big willie?

ok ok ok calm down

this guy is a beast one of my favorite player and one of the most underrated player of the last decade

BUT

about the offer the management team offered him he said:

"the number is so low I can't even remeber it"

and he had comment about having a big extension in cincy or elsewhere...

The management was a bit surprise and so do I: ok he could refuse the contract offer( and he was probably right because the numbers were probably very low because they do not know how his injury will go) but he is such a good no great team player it was weird to hear him saying he might go elsewhere

ok I know it is bizzness and i would probably do the same thing if i was him

but that is not the big will that had been advertised until now

Not that is a locker room jerk ( he is probably one of the best out there) but it shocked me to hear this kind of comments from him and i am not sure it was the best way to pass the message

ok now i have finish you can bury me now i will change my nickname....

 ML was probly laughing at the stupidity of the question. Someone after that question should have asked what its like having a superbowl ring-free locker room now that Dillon is gone.

I wonder what that reporter did to his old Corey Dillon jersey.

You seriously are a Pats fan and not a Bengals fan, or you would KNOW that the Bengals locker room is far from Super Bowl Ring free. There are multiple Super Bowl rings that were EARNED, not granted. Dillon was GIVEN a ring. He was traded to the defending champs, who really didn't need him to win another. You act like HE won the championship. He was along for the ride, and they used him because he was there. They didn't NEED him.

I wonder how many rings Dillon would have if he had been traded to DET or CLE or some other bad team?

My guess is none and the Patriots would still have gotten their 3rd !

My guess is he would be crying and stomping his feet there too!

I didnt count Webster because I dont expect him to be on the opening day roster. A better example would have been Kim Herring, who I overlooked, probly just because he sucks. Either way, neither Webster nor Herring effected their team winning a superbowl, and neither are good players. Corey Dillon is the opposite. Dont forget this quote when dismissing his role in the pats super bowl run. "Having him is such a plus because he plays with so much heart and effort and it's just contagious. It's like a domino effect," tight end Christian Fauria said. "Even when we miss blocks, he is making players miss and stiff-arming guys. He is just the heart of the offense."

In a season when the patriots had injuries and what not, Dillon carried the team to another super bowl.

says the guy w/ a picture of dillon in a pats jersey on a bengals board...

first of all, nate was tearing it up before he got hurt.. he doesn't suck... or at least didn't until he got hurt...

and herring is a good player... great compliment to madieu... herring is like having another coach out there... he knows both positions, rarely gets beat, and doesn't get ran over <cough kaesvilharn cough>...
