KiLBurn
Has Kori Dickerson been on the field yet this year? I would like to see him get an opportunity to grab one of the TE positions. If we keep 4 TE's(Counting St. Louis), we lose a more talented player at another position. I would like to see us be able to keep just 3 TE's on the roster. JohnsonX5
Schobel and Stewart looked very solid last night. Stewart made a nice catch on a throw behind him and another nice one on a high throw over the middle. Schobel made a great block on the shovel pass to Chris Perry that went for a TD. We disguised our screen passes beautifully in my opinion and I agree that Perry could do a little better job following his blockers, but you gotta love all the yardage we picked up on the screens. Walter might have made the team with his performance last night. One question I have is who in the heck tells Marvin to challenge plays? It was clear as day that the play we challenged was a catch after seeing the replay only once. I was pissed that we challenged that play and I don't want to see these kinds of wasted challenges in the regular season.
Bobcat Bengal
Please step it up O'Dell. You looked great against the Pats only if the viewer didn't look closely. Eliminate mistakes. O'Dell - Bobcat lied to me. O'Dell played and IMHO was much improved. He seemed to be everywhere in the early going but looked to be playing under much better control. LOLThey lied to me too man.I was reading some Bengal report and they told me ODell would sit out, he had a bum knee or something.
HairOnFire
Best of all if the graphic shown at halftime was correct the Redskins were held to just 37 yards rushing.Given that Portis was sidelined for this game I wouldn't get too excited about that...our best ought to be able to stuff their backups. You defend who they play and sort it all out later. I haven't forgotten that neither opposing team has played it's starting RB, but I'm encouraged that the Bengals starting defensive front has largely contained the running game they've faced. And that'll have to do until a better test can be found.
HairOnFire
I will say the screen pass is a nice addition. It was rarely used last year by CP. Perry is effective at it but should watch the tape of Watson's 39 yard screen pass play last night and compare it to his own 16 yd screen pass catch vs. Patriots last week. Got to wait for your blockers downfield then make the cut back inside instead of sprinting for the sideline if you want that extra 20 yds. Perry is coming along. I've got few gripes beyond how quickly he goes down after contact, but that's probably a result of being inactive for so long. I keep reminding myself that his past history included good power that he hasn't flashed yet. But regardless of which back is featured on the screen pass it's nice to see it playing a featured role in the gameplan. It's probably obvious to everyone but the Bengals history of featuring power backs like Dillon and RJ has resulted in them almost abandoning the screen pass over the years. Very nice to see the return of one of footballs most basic and productive plays.
HoosierCat
I haven't forgotten that neither opposing team has played it's starting RB, Uh, Dillon played for the Pats. 26 yards on 4 carries, 'member? And he had precisely the same kind of game, in miniature, that Jamal Lewis had against us last year in Baltimore I, 3 carries for 6 yards and 1 for 20.Yes, it was good to see the line stiffen up yesterday, even if it was against lesser-caliber competition. But...the Bengals showed last year that they could stop second-tier backs. Granted, it's only two games and even in those, only a few series' worth of play. But I don't like the trends. HairOnFire
Uh, Dillon played for the Pats. 26 yards on 4 carries, 'member? Apparently not. Actually I do....now that you mentioned it. One run worth mentioning and then a couple of nothing stuff. Easy to forget and apparently I did just that.
