Geep
A fast start is what Marvin has been preaching since the mini-camps. I believe that the team is singing from the same hymnal on that one. Hopefully CJ doesn't give the Dbacks any additional reason to get up for the opener. I would be thrilled with a 4-2 start too, but can't get over obsessing just about that Cleveland opener. Remember what they did to the Ravens in Cleveland last year? Dominated them on both sides of the ball. Garcia was the second coming and was carted off the field on his teammates shoulders. Of course reality soon set in, but I'd like to avoid that kind of emotional win this year if at all possible (and yes I'm a little bitter because I was in the 'Nati to watch the Jets game with my brother and had to drive back to Baltimore after the Bengals loss and then had to listen to jubilant Cleveland radio for about an hour of the trip. Ah. Feels good to get that off my chest.).
cincyhokie
4-2 or better IMOI think the only game we're a disadvantage talent wise is Vikings but we need our fans to step up and show em why home field is a advantage I agree here. The stadium needs to be rocking like the Chiefs game when the Vikings come here on the 18th. It's going to be a tough game.
thepudgester
Looking at those scores, it looks like you think our defense is gonna suck. No I don't believe the defense will suck, I simply think it will take a little time for all the young players to really learn to gel as a unit, and maybe after the bye week you may see balance between offense and defense. You also have to take into factor Palmer int's that may have our D pushed up against the wall as it did a year ago. However, Palmer will be much improved and the offense should become great by the end of the year. Infact, I have him picked as a pro-bowler. redsbengalsbucks
All 6 of those games scare me. Until the Bengals have a playoff run, I will not count any games as a W. But most obvious is the season opener. I think if the Bengals lose to the Browns in week one, it could be a borderline disaster. That is what Im thinking also, The Bengals should beat them but always seem to get off slow and division rivals are always tough.
Wraith
It is interesting to note that the Bengals, based solely upon 2004 record, will likely be favored to win 5 out of 6. We already know they are favored to beat the Browns, Chicago will be without their starting QB and might be without their no. 1 pick given that he has yet to sign and we play them week three, Minnesota had the same record as we did last year but we host them and they played in the much weaker division last year, Jacksonville will likely be favored at home but I wouldn't think by much, Tennesee and Houston both finished with worse records while playing a weaker schedule last year.If we believe in our team, then the question should be CAN we win them all but will you be disappointed if we don't win at least 5 out of 6. :player:
Bobcat Bengal
The only game during this time that would just PISS ME OFF by losing, would be the opener against Cleveland, but they have nothing to lose (Seeing as everyone expects them to suck), they are a division rival (Always play well against us), and it is their home opener as well as season opener. Worried about this one...Please God don't let the team get the big head with all the media attention and overlook a s**trag team like Cleveland and get beat !!! Amen...WHODEY !!! Yup.I remember watching Baltimore get the biz-nazz by the Browns in the season opener last year.

If they play hard, they will win.Officially I believe we'll go 4-2 to start the season with an outside chance of 5-1. Just gotta think that our new D will be subpar at least one if not 2 games while they get their feet wet.

I remember that too, but if anything it almost guarantees a win for us. Think about it .... what are the odds of Brown 2.0 winning two openers in a row against ANYBODY ??? ... much less two teams that are better than them. Kazkal
sense 1994 browns have won only 2 openers.....Both were their division rivals all other losts came from outside the division
JPW
Anything can happen on any given Sunday, but the Bengals should start off at least 4-2 and 6-0 is certainly a possibility.I agree with those who see Minnesota and Jacksonville as the two hardest games in that stretch. schweinhart
Any expectation of less than 9-0 going into the bye and the players are cheating themselves from the outset of the season.....if they really believe they're as good as it's starting to shape up.I'd like to see more than a fast start. I'd like to see them relentlessly pore it on everybody they face with an intensity unprecedented for any Bengals team. They've got the coach to get their minds right for it, but the test of talent will show where they really are.Taking these games in 4 game chunks for quarters of a season helps better digest the results, really. Go 3-1 and 3-1 (which looks very feasible) and there won't be any letdown. :player:

Jonboat
1-0 I'm going to take it one game @ a time & hopefully the team will also. Don't look past Cleveland as others have said they have nothing to lose & w/ a new coach I expect them to play very hard for him. Plus with the pressure of hearing all offseason about how important it is to get off to a fast start I hope we don't come out & play a little tenative, I want to see them play loose & fly to the ball . Any given Sunday any team can be beat that's what makes the NFL so exciting to watch because you never know, a turn over here, a bad break there can & often does change the game. Remember the Pitts. game last year (I believe we would've won if it wasn't for a terrible PI call). So for me this year it'll be week to week. As ML often says what's great about the NFL is each week you get another opportunity to get better & in Marvin I trust ! GO BENGALS!!
