Spain
I just have a strange sense of humor thats all. Pollaks primadonna routine has burnt me with this guy, he is a selfish player and I hate these guys.
BamaBengal
I think it would be foolish to let Pollack on the field tomorrow night considering there's no way he's in football shape and could risk an injury. No matter how good a shape you're in from running and lifting, there's no substitute for putting the pads on and getting used to contact and cutting and the like.Happy to have him in the fold finally and hope the pre-season camps, the videos the staff sent him and his and Marvin's desire are enough to get him (as Marvin would say) "coached up" and ready to go by the start of the season.Love his enthusiasm (even if it was misplaced in Condon) and his love of the game. We haven't had too many people on the Bengals' D that put the fear of God into the opposition. Would love to see Madieu, Thurman and Pollack become the triangle of terror for running backs and receivers and make them hear footsteps. One question: if they plan on using Pollack as a situational pass rusher, does that mean they move Justin Smith or Roert Geathers into DT on 3rd down? Seems the only way to get the 3 best pass rushers on the field at the same time unless they plan on keeping Pollack on the field in the nickel and I've seen that Landon Johnson and Simmons are the ones slated for that now because of their speed and coverage abilities (plus Simmons is a prety good blitzer). Who would you move inside, Geathers or Smith? Smith goes 280 but quickness instead of strength is supposed to be his strongpoint. Smith I think weighs even less. Being here in Birmingham, I haven't seen either of them play enough (curse you Monday Night Football and the networks) to know what kind of game they have and if either would be suited to moving inside to rush the passer as the technique seems to be so different from playing end. HoosierCat
profootballweekly.com's $0.02...PFW: Is Pollack too far behind to contribute early in the season?Reynolds: More than any measurable they look for, scouts want to know if a prospect is a “football player.” In that, they want to know if he has the instincts, intelligence and work ethic to contribute to almost any team. In essence, if you find the player a helmet, he can help the team. Pollack is that kind of player. His transition to linebacker from defensive end won’t be as dramatic as many anticipate. In Marvin Lewis’ defense, Pollack still gets a chance to rush the passer. On third downs, he’ll line up as a defensive end in certain situations. His ability to cover tight ends shouldn’t be questioned, according to Lewis, who said Pollack looked like a natural in organized team activities. At 255 pounds, moving around in space and sticking on the hip of a running back such as Michael Bennett, the Vikings’ starter and Cincinnati’s Week Two opponent, can’t be expected. But Lewis doesn’t need Pollack to make plays in pursuit or moving sideline-to-sideline. He needs to fill gaps and bring a physical presence to the front seven in order to improve a run defense that gave up 128.9 rushing yards per game last season. Bobcat Bengal
I'd rather Pollack NOT play Friday. For one, Coach Lewis said so. LOL, nah, he hasn't practiced yet. I like that Coach Lewis has that provision. I dont care who you are, if you dont practice youre not playing.Besides, he (Pollack) might be trying to do fo'-much when he gets out there and pull a hammy or tear an ACL or something. His first live action without practicing or being with the team? I dont have a good feeling about that.
