Ken Anderson in the Hall of Fame?

agree. While I'm not saying its a slam dunk, a guy like Anderson definitely gets overlooked. Certainly Griese is overrated and even my beloved Joe Namath is a bit overrated (most of it due to injuries, though). Market has a lot to do w/ it.

I also think winning a bowl has a lot to do w/ it (Griese, Namath). You have to be a super player to get in w/ no champuionships (Marino). I point to a Jets example: Joe Klecko. Noone will ever tell me that as a player, this guy doesn't deserve to be in the Hall. But his teams never even made the SB and t/f he gets overlooked where a guy like Dan Hampton of gthe Bears gets in. Joe Klecko was w/o a doubt a better defensive lineman than Dan Hampton. Thats the way it goes, though.

If we had won the first Super Bowl against the 49er's, this would not even be a topic of conversation. Sad but true. Sooner or later, he will make it !!! We need to get a Bengalzone petition together and forward it to the NFL Commissioner !!!

Kenny Anderson for the Hall of Fame !!!

WHODEY !!!

The Bengals organization should be actively campaigning for this man to get into the HOF. He and Ken Riley both deserve to be in the HOF more than some members already there. The changes in the last 2 season have been good but the Bengals should make it a point to get this kind of info to the public and the voters for the HOF. As you can tell I support Ken Anderson for the HOF.

It seems to me that anybody else with similar credentials (all-time pass percentage record, four passing titles, MVP season) is in the hall of fame. That SB title does go a long way toward solidifying a QB's chances, however.

If the Benglas had just tried to pass the ball a couple times at the goal line in SB XVI instead of banging Pete Johnson into the center of the San Fran line over and over, Anderson would probably have his ring.

The Bengals ran Johnson in back of Munoz all season with great results.

On the biggest play of the game at the goal line they decide to trick the niners and run Johnson between the center and right guard and Hacksaw Reynolds stuffed the play... I still am burning about that damn call!

I think that Boomer is more desrving than Anderson. Boomer is the top fifteen qb 's all time in the folling categories : pass attempts, completions, yards, and TD's where as Anderson isnt. That being said I think both should be in there

different era though, Cleveland. Anderson played a lot of 14 game seasons andthe 70s were still more run oriented. Esiason is not a HOFer..no way.

age old question, no ring, no hall w/out off the chart #'s or big market hype.

If Pete Johnson ran his out pattern in the endzone instead of at the 1 yard line, it may be a different story.

As for Boomer, if Lewis Billups got hands on the interception that bounced off his # the play before "Montana to Taylor" then he could be a canidate.

Our franchise has played well in Super Bowls, but those 2 plays will forever haunt us.

Different era. Teams didn't pass forty times a game like the 80's.

My biggest argument for KA over Boomer is that Kenny won four passing titles. That means he was the top QB four different times among his peers and playing the Steelers twice a year during the 70's.

Ken Anderson was also the guinea pig for the West Coast offense. Heady quy, good athlete that could run. He could throw the long ball and was extremely accurate in the short range. Bill Walsh made Joe Montana and Steve Young watch tapes of Anderson in SF.

Here is a website that lists Anderson's stats vs. players of his era. His numbers a much better that Bradshaw's for instance. But of course, TB has the hardware and Kenny does not. I do believe that if the Bengals had won Super Bowl XVI, he probably would have been voted in by now.
