BengalNation1281 Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 I only got to listen to the game on the internet feed, but from what I heard I was very impressed with the way that B-Rob played. I'm not as worried about the run defense right now as I have been for the last, oh, I don't know, 11 years.Moore will be solid, so I'm not too worried about that. Quote
HairOnFire Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 One play stood out for me last night...the patriots ran a sweep to the opposite side of Robinson. He fought across the guard who was blocking him, and was really hustling down the line to drive the ball carrier out of bounds (he also landed on top of him, which I also like to see). I'd bet that play stood out for alot of people. Its pretty rare when an interior DL is making plays on the opposite sideline. One more quick point. Robinson got his sack while running a simple outside twist with Justin Smith. That's notable to me because one of Robinson's weaknesses is said to be his abilty to stunt. Fine, opinon noted, but I sure didn't see any sign of weakness on that play. Quote
HairOnFire Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 I had a hard time seperating my emotional reaction to the 2nd and third teamers getting smacked like that with the reality that it is pre-season and means didly. 1st team looked good. After hearing how much rushing yardage the Bengals gave up I was pleasantly surprised by the game itself. The Bengals gave up far too much yardage to the Pats QB's and the disappointing big play now and then to a backup RB, but it's week one of the preseason and I expect a certain amount of sloppy play. What encouraged me was how often the Bengals blew up most routine rushing attempts. I realize the same sloppy play factor applies to the Patriots, but there seemed to be a higher than average number of plays that were stuffed for a loss or for minimal one or two yard gains. Let's hope they build on that. Quote
HairOnFire Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 Well this year they moved their training camp from Flagstaff to the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University campus here in the mile high city of Prescott, and they do their workouts less than 5 minutes from my house. I hear you. Until the Cowboys moved their camp a couple of years ago I used to travel about 4 or 5 minutes up the road and watch them practice at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, California. Funny thing about it was I hated the Cowboys so much I never bothered asking for a single autograph despite being this >< close to several future Hall-o-Famers. Quote
