Edwards Deal Blows Up

Recommended Posts

Yepp, finally they got that deal done, it's about time. I'm hoping he plays in the first preseason game but I doubt he will get to play much according to Crennel.

Who?, good luck on Saturday, lets hope everyone comes out healthy. Any players of interest I should watch for on the Browns side?

I hope Dilfer is watching his blind side, your LT will be going against DE Osi Umenyiora. We expect big things from him this year.

Good luck to you as well, for players to watch I'd have to say.. Andra Davis, Braylon Edwards, Antonio Bryant, all the running backs, Brandon Rideau (UDFA), Brodney Pool, Sean Jones, Antonio Perkins, Nick Speegle and David McMillan.

I'm looking forward to how Eli Manning does, I think he will be a great quarterback. Fill me in on this defensive end you speak of, I'm not really sure who it is.

Umenyiora was drafted out of Troy State in the 2nd round of the 2003 draft purely for his athletic ability. The problem is he had only played a couple years of organized football. Usually those guys don't pan out, but Umenyiora looks like the exception. He started the 2nd half of last season and finished with 7 or 8 sacks. He's looked good, real good in training camp, he made the Jets LT (Fabini?) look stupid in their scrimmage/joint practice/boxing match last weekend. Now we just need to see if he can hold up against the run. He isn't undersized (6'4", 275), so its just a question of technique and knowing where he's supposed to be. By all accounts he's starting to 'get it', now I just want to see it in a game.

I try not to bring up Eli on non-Giants boards, his name tends to get people worked up (that means you, billybroome ;) ). But I think he'll be a solid QB for us. Camp has been up and down, but sometimes you've got to take a step back to take two steps forward. I saw enough from him at the end of last year that I'm confident he won't go Leaf on us.

Is Edwards going to play? I thought that since he just signed he'd probably sit out.

I'm suprised to hear Andre Davis is having a dissapointing camp, I always thought he was solid and maybe on the verge of being something more. He married a girl I went to high school with so I always root for him anyway.

By the way, check out the Giants 2nd string RB, Brandon Jacobs. I can't wait to see what happens when he gets into the defensive secondary

We have a guy that sounds just like that defensive end of yours that is unheard of until I think this year, his name is Chaun Thompson and he plays outside linebacker and was drafted just because he was an athletic freak but went to a D-2 school that was like 0-12. I think Edwards will get a little bit of playing time, sources say he is around 5th on the depth chart at the moment.

I wanted the Browns to draft Jacobs so bad! The man is a perfect AFC North running back! I'm scared of the guy, he's going to be amazing in goal line situations and will be a great 1-2 punch with Barber.

:D

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the game. But from what I've read, Jacobs is the man...

Oh CKJ, you don't even understand how much the man he is, he pounded our team. I was talking him up to all of my friend and they were like "Dude he's like a 4th round pick", and then he comes out with that like 6'5 260 frame and they were freaking out. Good game by the way!

I wasn't sold on the Jacobs pick at first...wow, was I wrong about this kid. He's one of the more exciting football players I've seen for a while. Certainly the most exciting rookie the G-men have had since Shockey (who's going to have a heII of a year, BTW).

It looks like it was a good game. The Browns must have decent depth, they seemed to control the 2nd half of the game. Not that it means much for this year, but its something to build on.

Ahhh I don't even know how we pulled out that win to tell you the truth, but I think the Browns and Giants both need to work on having less penalties for sure.
