redsfan2
The Seminole tribe in Florida had given Florida State permission to use their name ..... but that's not good enough for these guys. The colleges are rife with this nonsense. It's drilled into the heads of the students ..... and then they get positions with the colleges and reinforce their own preconceived ( read prejudice ) notions into the next group. One of my art teachers was recounting her trip to Moscow and saying how great it was there. In fact , she was gushy to the point that I asked her if she was a Communist. After looking at me for a minute, she said " Would it make a difference if I was ? " I said No ... not to me. I just thought it was interesting that an artist ( which she truly is ) would be so taken with a country that had so many artists flee in order to gain the freedom of expression that they found lacking there. She changed the subject and never did answer. Go figure huh!
redsbengalsbucks
very good points about college/professor influence on students, many college students are not mature enough to make up thier own minds and just transfer the opinions of a well liked teacher. This seems to be an increasing problem with the new generation, these kids that have never paid attention to any issue if it was not connected to a video game. Parents are the true problem, todays parents need to talk with thier children about current and historical events of importance. Allow them to see your opinion on issues that matter before they leave to start thier own experiences and form thier own opinions. I am not saying that parents should brainwash kids with thier opinions, just discuss the issues with them as equals. Kids are the most important job we have!!
