The new article on bengals.com said that Perry is running the sweep or power O too perfection. this is why this guy was drafted. Rudi had a lot of success running this play. then Perry was drafted. If Perry runs the power O for us Rudi is history! I love these heart guys but if Perry is getting Pub on our bread and butter running play then Rudi is trade bait next year.com Perry could have a monster year! With that being said Rudi doesnt seem to be scared of the competition! If Perry runs the O better Rudi will be limited to the 3rd qaurter wearing down the D. Kiss his mass rushing stats goodbye because we have gone to time share running back by comitee!

Perry will make Rudi better -- both in rest periods during games, and competition for position.

Perry will only make the BENGALS ground game better!!! :player:

Let's see...

Rudi has never missed a game, or practice to my knowledge, due to injury.

Perry can barely take a dump without getting a hernia. I really doubt that Rudi, or the rest of us, is second-guessing who will start. BTW, Ki-Jana looked rad in college and practice too.

I'm also failing to see the connection in how a barely healthy player running a play nicely in practice equates to placing a "trade-bait" tag on the previous years (healthy) starter and new Bengal single-season rush record holder.

Why would you place such a blatantly inflammatory post? Maybe, because you are a twit.

best case scenario: Rudi mashes and Perry dashes.

BEING CAUTIOUS: RB Chris Perry keeps looking better and better, particularly when he runs sweeps outside.

where in that comment from bengals.com does it mention the power O hence he will do something that is not one of rudi's strengths thus add to our running game and make it more effective.

so give rudi some respect before you dump his ass in the bin jeez

Its that they had something planned when they drafted this guy, to me Rudi is the insurance at this point. However these a

our my opinions, nothing more! However we are heading to decision time after this season! Maybe one of these guys will make it easy but I doubt their is back down in either!

Of course Perry would run the sweep better than Rudi...he's quicker and more agile. Rudi is a downhill runner who just runs it down your throat.

Perry will add another dimension to the running game with his quickness, agility, and pass-catching capabilities, but he's not a 30 carry-a-game back yet.

Are you still drunk, Spain?

I echo what kingwilly said, but also suggest this: just because you have 2 great running backs (which we may or may not have) doesn't mean you trade away one of them. Just ask Carolina why they didn't trade Deshaun Foster.

So before Who chimes in with his typical "at least Spain is looking to the future", there's more to running a football team, or loving a football team, than getting excited every time a player becomes tradeable. Can't we just enjoy the possibility that we might have two 1000-yard running backs? Certainly the Browns didn't mind having Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack on the same team.

More like ask them why they didn't cut Nick Goings last season. ;)

If Perry pans out and you have two young Rb's signed and locked up for 4 more years, why in the hell would you trade one of them?

I know it's not something we're used to around here - but it's called necessary depth.

Most teams and most definitely the playoff teams had two good Rb's last year - Dillon/Faulk, Faulk/Jackson, Holmes/Johnson, Westbrook/Buckhalter, Martin/Jordan, Bennett/Williams, Davis/Foster, Lewis/Taylor, Staley/Bettis.

This is what a coach does who knows people are going to get hurt and finds ways to get high ceiling, quality backup talent in all areas.

Sure Watson's a good little scat back, but I'm not sure I'd want to depend on him carrying the ball on the goal line consistently or 25-30 times a game if Rudi goes down.

Notice how well both Rudi and Dillon did (more so Rudi) in '03 - when Rudi gets breathers he's more effective and more likely to break long runs and take over games with fresher legs in the 2nd half. This is ideal. He had to compensate a lot last year and carried the ball way too many times and his average suffered...ecspecially against 9 top 10 defenses.

Please stop with the Rudi trade talk! They will compliment each other well hopefully and be fun to watch, and if Perry can God forbid stay healthy like he did in college he's an ideal alternate/#2 back with feature back potential.

Doesn't mean I still wouldn't want to have Steve Jackson or Kevin Jones. :)

I wish everyone would shut up and realize that the two RB set is about to be the scariest thing anyone's ever seen!

Opposing coach...

"Oh s**t guys, they could run this up our gut, or do an ill sweep. OH s**t, they could even throw to one of those 3 pro bowl worthy recievers. OH s**t s**t, one of those running backs in the back field is a real recieving threat and the other one has the ability to knock every one of our defenders flat on their ass. Especially since he'll have to free hands and not just one. "WE'RE DOOMED!!!!!!!!!

folled by comic book style hitting sounds. FWAP! BLAM! PLOW! FOOM!!!

We won't get rid of either one of them. They will both stay untill their contracts are up. Our running game will be so insane this year and it will help the defense out immensily. In Rudi we get the durable hard nosed RB and he gets his yards no matter who we play. Perry will break big plays for us and guarantee that we will always have a running game for the next four years. I can't wait to see how insane we drive defensive coordinators with a four wide set. Imagine running Perry on a draw out of a four wide on 3rd and 6, or having Rudi in on a 3rd and 2 in a four wide set and running a playaction pass. What I want to see them do the most is run a three wide and have Perry shift out to the slot. That could create some killer mismatches and if Palmer doesn't see what he wants he could audible to the newly fit Jeremi Johnson. Speaking of Jeremi Johnson, can anybody tell me how he has looked in camp?

Quit smoking dope! Chris Perry and Rudi Johnson will compliment each other. Just because they can both run the same plays **Gasp, what a concept, two good running backs who can run the playbook on the same team** doesn't mean that one is going to be traded. In this league, having two guys who can get the job done as starters at halfback is important. Look what Rudi did when Corey Dillon was injured. He stepped up and didn't miss a beat. Look at Kansas City. Priest Holmes goes down, Blaylock steps in and doesn't miss a beat. Blaylock goes down and Larry Johnson steps in and doesn't miss a beat. They kept two. We have two guys who are potentially (assuming Perry doesn't turn into the next coming of Kijana) starters.

There will be no trading of Rudi or Chris anytime soon. As stated before, depth is something the Bengals are not accustom to, thus we as fans have already decided that someone has got to go because we are not used to it. Rudi is the inside guy, wearing down the defense with his constant power running. Chris will then bounce it outside with his speed keeping the D honest by not crowding the middle. This sounds to me like Ickey Woods/James Brooks style of play. Maybe we may have two 1000 yard rushers this season. But that is if Chris Perry is healthy. :D
