First Telecast Set For Aug. 12

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The NFL is coming back to NBC and the Cincinnati Bengals are headed to NBC 4 for preseason play.

NBC 4, in partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals, Inc., has agreed to air pre-season Bengals games, effective August 2005.

All pre-season games will air on Friday nights, beginning on Aug. 12. The schedule will air as follows:

Aug. 12: NEW ENGLAND/7:30 p.m.

Aug. 19: at Washington/8 p.m.

Aug. 26: at Philadelphia/7:30 p.m.

Sept. 2: INDIANAPOLIS/7:30 p.m.

Paul Keels and Anthony Muñoz will team up again in the broadcast booth for this season's games on the Bengals Preseason TV Network. Keels will do play-by-play, with Munoz as the analyst. In addition, NBC 4's Mike Valpredo will provide sideline commentary for the two televised home games on Aug. 12 and Sept. 2.

Keels, a Cincinnati native, is also currently the voice of the Ohio State Buckeyes for football and basketball. He was the University of Cincinnati's primary football and basketball broadcaster over a period from 1989-98, and was the Bengals' play-by-play voice on radio in '96. Muñoz, a Bengals' Hall of Fame offensive tackle, will be in his eighth season as preseason analyst.

NBC's "Sunday Night Football" is the National Football League's primetime network television package. The six-year deal, which includes innovative flexible scheduling, begins with the 2006 season, continues through 2011 and includes Super Bowls in 2009 and 2012 and Pro Bowls in the same years. The first regular season game of the new agreement, NBC's "NFL Kickoff 2006," launches the NFL regular season on Sept. 7, 2006, in primetime.

Cool! I don't think I've EVER seen a Bengals pre-season game on TV unless I go visit my parents in Cincinnati. Columbus is a disgusting sports town - it's all Ohio State Buckeyes and any team from Cleveland. Ugh!

The Bengals winning for a few years will change all that.

WBNS10 TV has carried Bengal preseason games for several years in Columbus. Not all have been live but most are. Once they played it on tape delay because CBS had a scheduled preseason telecast.

Commercial just came on for WCMH broadcast of the Bengals game Friday. Hope this helps you Columbusbengal. I too am in Columbus.
