That's a downer. Of course, Wilkerson must be really bummed. I've rarely been on the player's side with contract negotiations/holdouts, etc. but this shows how tenuous things can be for the players. Wilkerson may be out of football for a while or forever (or why would the Bengals give up on him so quickly?) because of a freakish injury with only about $10K in his pocket, when otherwise he would have been looking at a possible $5 Million contract as a top draft choice.

Not only that, but he reportedly turned down a $20 signing bonus after the draft to sign here because the Bengals told him he'd have a shot at the starter's job.

Maybe since its so fun for some of you to bring back old posts of mine when I was wrong (which is still up in the air BTW), I should bring back some of the Wilkerson posts. The ones where i was saying he wouldnt make the team, and dozens of others were argueing saying that he would not only make the team, but actually start.

Nah, I wont do it, I'm bigger then that.

Okay, what would they have found out today about Wilkerson that they did not already know? Surely they gave him a physical before signing him as a FA.

Good question. Conventional wisdom was he was headed to PUP or IR. Maybe they gave him a choice between that and being releases, and he decided to see if he catch on elsewhere?

Actually what most other posters said was that IF he could get healthy he would make the team.

You maintained that healthy or not he wouldn't make the team.

I fail to see just how this proves you to be right.

But it is a shame that the kid didn't work out with the team ...

Yup. But he can rebound if his comparision of FA Patrick Body to Rodney Harrison holds up...

My comparison? No. I posted an article that compared the 2. Lets stop trieng to change the subject here. I find it funny that regaurdless of anything people will try to turn these things around on me. Haters!

Now that would be a big "beers on me" for the scouting staff....Body = Harrison

But since you are going to try and put words in my mouth, how about i hit you with reality. Something that you actually said...

Ghiaciuc is a far better center prospect then Wilkerson

WTF are you smoking, DPM? Wilkerson was a consensus top 3 center prospect; the highest I've seen Ghiaciuc ranked is 6th, and most had him in the 12-20 range. If Wilkerson is healthy, I have no doubt he's the center of the future. Ghiaciuc will provide solid backup, Braham and Moore will be gone, and we'll be set at center for the next 10 years.

I am not trying to turn anything around on anybody ...

I was just pointing out that this does not prove you to be right about Wilkerson.

On the other hand it certainly doesn't prove you to be wrong.

Wilkerson wasn't able to get healthy so we just don't know what would have happened if he had been able to.

Who cares about who was right or wrong or whatever anyway.

It is just a shame that the kid couldn't get healthy ...

It absolutely proves me right. I said he will not make the 53 man roster. HE DIDNT. You guys are just using small meaningless excuses to get out of admitting that i was right. If the only problem with him was the injury, he would have been put on IR, but they knew he wouldnt amount to anything as an NFL player, and decided to cut him now. Thats it.

I swear i could correctly predict our opening day roster for 2013 and you guys would still find a way to say I was wrong. Just accept it. Im right.

Bummer. Odd that they made such a hard run at him only to drop him on day 2 of camp. Especially when Ghuichuc is holding out; one less center in the fold only gives him more juice.

Probably says all we need to know about how the Bengals had judged his rehab to date as well as their opinion about his long-term chances to return to his pre-injury form.
