walzav29
No he isn't. No 1 player is. I love this guy, but you can tell he is becoming the stereotypical hot shot, big headed athlete. It's not worth the distraction to the team.
DontTakeAkili
Damn, I hate to even see this question, because it can't lead to anything good. The last thing a young team needs is the TO/Javon Walker sideshow that might derail the Iggles and Pack.Having said that, I would answer no as well. And you can quote all the stats you want. This is Marvin's plan - interchangable parts. TJ, Kelly, Henry, Perry - all ready to step up. I would love to keep Chad, but if he demands a deal that keeps us from improving the team, he isn't worth it. Not by himself. No receiver is.It woudl also be a lot easier to stomach his loss if we had a legitimate tight end threat to snag some of CP's passes. The_Next_Big_Thing
There will be no holdout soap opera with Chad. He couldn't be any clearer on that. He's told Drew he doesn't forsee a holdout and wants to earn his increase on the field. Mike Brown will give him his raise and extension just like he did Marvin. Kirkendall
There will be no holdout soap opera with Chad. He couldn't be any clearer on that. He's told Drew he doesn't forsee a holdout and wants to earn his increase on the field. Mike Brown will give him his raise and extension just like he did Marvin. He's also been quoted as saying the same rant Drew's been saying. If a player can be cut for under-performing, can't a player be given a raise for over-performing? Those are Chad's words as well. And Mike Brown has been quoted as saying he believes contracts should be fulfilled and if you earn your keep, you'll be rewarded. But Brown doesn't believe in giving out big money up front and he already rewarded Chad with an extension... so who knows? Can this be the last Rosenhaus thread until the end of the regular season? walzav29
That's a good call. This is nothing we should worry about this season. Our #1 concern should be Pollack and Thurman getting in.
Pangloss
I voted "no." But let's see how the Rosenhaus' holdouts fare this year. If teams don't play the game and change contracts, holding out may provide no leverage, only a year of lost salary. Chad said he will play this year. By next year Rosenhaus' threats might just be a memory.
ArmyBengal
HELL NO !!! No BS like that is worth it, because it's not professional in any way shape or form. Do we only expect professionalism out of them when they are on the field and except childish antics the remainder of the time ?? Hell no !!! No one player is worth all the crap T.O. and Walker are dishing out. F**K THEM ALL !!!On the flip side, I don't see Chad going in this direction. I think reworking his deal will be more than discussed pending another steller year, including the playoffs and a pro bowl. How could it not ?? The Bengals will make this happen before it gets out of hand. If Chad becomes the assclown T.O. is, F**K HIM TO !!!WHODEY !!!
Kazkal
Chad deserves more money plain and simple but atleast he's playing this year no problems...PS,Ward is threatening to holdout this year i guess
Ickey44
You know, all this "the team can cut the player" crap is BS. That player still gets paid their signing bonus even if they do get cut. If a player gets cut, then signed by another team, he's then earning three different salaries. His signing bonus from the team that cut him, his signing bonus from the team that signed him, and the contracted salary. I fail to see how a player is in dire straights is he gets cut. If a player holds out, he's not paying anything back to the team, is he? If he underperforms, is he paying that money back? Hell no. These players bickering that they don't get paid enough kills me. TO signed a $49 million contract last year, and he's UNDERPAID??? Whatever.........
HoTbOy
No I don't think that no player is worth all the distractions, as much as i like Chad if he chooses to skip camp next year fine him until he comes...Holding out on a contract you signed is not professional at all. If the Bengals offer an extension then GREAT if not report to camp. The Bengals were smart to give him an extension last year, because it looks like the sky is the limit for Chad this year, especially if he goes to another PB and leads the AFC in anything. If the Bengals go where they want to go this year maybe Chad may say forget it, who knows. Chad sure does sound like RosenhASS..
Kirkendall
If you did more at your job and got paid less than your co-workers, would you say something to your boss? Or got paid less than others in your area of expertise?
bengalsLB
no player is worth those bulls**t distractions... if chad does pull a TO a say during practice make him run a inside slant and let thurman knock the bulls**t right out of him
AMC
Marvin will have a sit-down with CJ "Sopranos style"...all will be good
CantStop85
If CJ holds out, it will probably be a little more business-like than the situation with TO. Chad enjoys playing where he does unlike TO who is in it only for the money.
BengalsMan3203
There will be no hold out... Chad is going to be on the team for a long time... if not for the rest of his playing days....Like some have said -- Marvin will take care of it... I don't have a worry in the world.WHOOOOOOOOOOOODEY
shatan
DEAR MIKE BROWN "CHAD JOHNSON IS A TOP 5 WR ,PAY HIM LIKE HE IS"THEY NEED TO REDO HIS CONTRACT BEFORE IT COMES DOWN TO A HOLDOUT. I think if a player well exceeds his contract he should be rewarded for it. In T.O.'s case, he already got a fat contract and should live up to it. I think if a player well exceeds his contract he should be rewarded for it. In T.O.'s case, he already got a fat contract and should live up to it. Look, they paid him like a top 5 receiver with his last contract before he was one. I don't fault the Bengals in the least. They treated CJ more than fairly. This isn't a case where you can call the Bengals cheap. That's completely unfair.Next spring, either Cincy will see fit to tear up his old deal, or they won't. If they don't, he will hold out until he needs the money, then he will come in. The team has the leverage. It's not like CJ has made peanuts under his current deal. He got a $10 million dollar signing bonus, I believe, when they re-upped him in 2003.
Kirkendall
Just thought some of you who think Chad isn't in the Drew R. and T.O mold.... read this. Johnson Supports TO."No, I'm not surprised he's coming in,'' said Johnson on Friday, minutes after concluding Cincinnati's first training camp practice of the summer at Georgetown College. "You've got to play the game. You've got to. You've got to have some kind of leverage to hold out, and the only leverage we have is to say we're not coming. So you have to play that card as long as you can."But the whole point is trying to get money, not lose it. And missing camp days is losing money, because they'll fine you. That's when your senses come into play. Regardless of what you say, you're not going to miss camp. I understand his situation, though, and he's right. Because if he wasn't performing, they'd want him to take a pay cut. Period.''http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...n.to/index.htmlPS, T.O. never said he's holding out, apprantly that was "fabricated" by the media too.
